Moncton is really getting a lot of 'gifts from the sky' this year. I see many houses with snow nearing the height of their roofs. That unwanted white crap blocks my view when I have to turn on main roads.

Against my better judgment I drove to Tims a few hours ago because I craved some soup of theirs and Mother of Pigs did I get stuck in their snow-accumulated entrance. Some teenage boys had to come to my rescue :eek:

Can't believe this is not the end of 2015 storms, the city simply doesn't have enough room for more snow.

There certainly are but this is just a reflection of much cheaper property prices in these parts. Perfectly decent 3 bed detached houses for <$100k

I'd have no issue dealing with the snow with housing prices like that....

Plus, I could get a snow throwing machine which some have around here, but they only get used like once a year...lol

I don't care about snow, part of life in parts of Canada, but if we could improve our life overall and have to deal with snow, fair trade off in my view.

Oye, young fella, we still shovel snow here - not everyone can afford one of those motorized snow thingy machines or pay someone to do it for them, and besides, its good exercise, even if it can take several hours to move it

Good call, so when are you moving to Moncton NB?

Never since my GF has a disability and I lack the earning power to make up the loss of that since NB doesn't offer the same sort of system.

I'd need to make what I make now, plus another 2,000 a month or so, and that would be approx 25-26 per hour if I did the math right and of course assuming my health stuff doesn't flare up causing me to need time off.

Too many other variables in play that would not permit an improvement in life, but if those variables were not there, and we both just worked normal 40 hour weeks, making 16/hr, it appears we would be better off, but those variables take it off the table.

I couldn't shovel snow the old fashioned way, I am a 35 year old with a 20 year old brain, and a 65 year old body. I can barely now even wash the car without being in pain. I got stuck with all the bad genes in the family, my sister got the good ones...:rofl:

We shovel. But sometimes it's too much - especially with the ridge from the city plow. When that happens we pay $25 to have it plowed up the drive which is only used for a car space when coming home by taxi. Normally we do that about 5 times a winter. Sadly this year's not normal. :(

Pretty much right, but maybe not as much needed. Single minimum wage likely leaves a fair bit more money for other stuff after rent here than single minimum wage elsewhere. More than minimum wage and/or two minimum wagers would have more spare again.

The disability differences are a problem. But they can work in reverse too. For all the "backward" aspects of NB, there's a medical treatment my wife currently gets here that would cost us significantly more in the other provinces. :nod:
