Well we finally got to try the Beef Tenderloin that SchnookoLoly spoke so highly of.
Last month my stepdaughter bought a slab for about $70. Superstore had it down to $10.99lb and we cut it into three for roasting.
I did it yesterday and it was glorious. Magnificently pink throughout - too pink for my mother in law, even with the outside slices, so I had to do those bits a bit more.
It was definitely tender - which I know sounds a bit daft given it's tenderloin, but Pork tenderloin isn't especially tender.
I think the Prime Rib Premium Roast ($12.99 down to $6.99lb) had an edge taste-wise but I have a feeling I may have seasoned that in addition to the wholegrain mustard rub whereas the tenderloin was just the mustard.
So the next one I'll season as well as mustard. I love Montreal Steak Spice but I have to be careful as my mother in law's "too much" is different to my too much.
With steak it's easy to cater for both. Maybe I should cut a piece off and do hers separately next time.
Worth noting again that I've also had very good Boneless Cross Rib @ $3.99lb.

Ah glad you like it!
I'm a sucker for tenderloin.
Rib probably does have a bit more taste as it's generally a fattier cut, but a tenderloin cut will be, well, more tender, but it's also a much leaner cut. Depends what you're looking for.
Either way, glad you enjoyed it!

We emptied the Pinot Noir too, which is indeed rare for me for a red these days.

We usually get them two at a time.

Is the wine any cheaper vs NB liquor?

On the subject of beef had some lovely biltong over the weekend, reminded me I must get some outside round (my usual cut for biltong) and get some on the go. You need a slightly fattier cut for good biltong, sirloin is just too lean.

Interestingly, I have seen pork referred to as white meat.
I had to do a stool test years ago when you had to change your diet for about a week beforehand. Red meat was not allowed, but pork was listed as allowed

I've been buying small amounts of pork lately, it's become the least expensive meat now it seems.
Finally able to get a roast, they have cut them in very small now to keep the sticker price reasonable and not have them all 20-30 dollars, now it's tiny and only feeds 2 people 1 meal, but at least we could get one, was around 8 dollars.
Got some pork cubes for a stew as well, around 4 dollars, probably about 1 cup worth of cubed meat in the package.
Eliminated fresh veggies and most really, mostly rice, and a protein now for dinner, oatmeal and a banana for breakfast, and a hard boiled egg or 2 for lunch.
We have to keep our weekly food budget under 75 dollars a week, hard to do when adding in the fruits and veggies, also have some greek yougurt as snacks.
Vegetarian chilli as well, get 3-4 meals out it. Toss it in the crock pot when I get home at 7am, and it's ready for my wife when she gets home. I sometimes take some to work, but eh not good to eat in the middle of the night.
