In the interests of not high-jacking someone else's thread. Just thought I'd tell nidfc what we've been doing the last few days. He [nldfc] needs to get out here and have at it!
Just bought ten new reels and some great rods. Plus, with the sockeye run we're up to 90lbs of fish in three days, to be both hot and cold smoked.

DFO are closing the sockeye run tomorrow. Hopefully the big 20lbs to 40lbs bastards start to turn up next week. Yes, got a great deal, saved in total about $1500 off the MSRP, so well chuffed.

We've had to entertain ourselves with pawning and crabbing which while instantly gratifying doesn't quite have the same thrill of the hunt. Got about 800 spot pawns though, which is about two five gallon buckets full.

Fishing is great but the catching sucks. I actually had to go an do some work last week so I didn't get out till yesterday morning. Lots of bait around but hardly any fish. They'll come eventually.

l must say that is one hell of a fishery you have got around vancouver always
some thing to catch all year round, do you still have to measure them just
like the crabs you catch.

Also, if we the have time, we might bomb over to VI (its about 25 mile trip) and fish the reefs for lingcod. They're ugly buggers but very tasty when battered and deep fried.
