Another tipping question...

Sorry, but that's awful. It's not hard to work out 15%, and if you're not sure, round up. Some poor waitress or waiter would have had to grub around on the floor after your child- I don't think $3 really makes up for the extra work. You should have over-tipped under the circumstances, surely.
The service wasn't that fantastic anyway.
And maths was never my strongpoint. 10% I can work out, but 15% with a fidgeting, whingeing baby under your arm is a bit more difficult for me.

For some reason there is no concept of social responsibility as far as drinking in Ontario goes.

Heh heh! Yeah I guess so!
It's a whole different ethos here though.
In Britain, you finish work on a Friday, you go to the pub with your workmates for a swift half afterwards.
Here, you'd be hard-pushed to find anybody who does that.
In fact, were you to do that, should you get drunk and arrested, chances are you could sue your company for allowing you to go out with your work colleagues and get drunk...
...and I'm quite serious!

Depends who you know I suppose...
There are always the drinkers, you just have to find them!

He's right. You have to go back to the eighties to find a really lively post-work bar scene in downtown Toronto. There are still some bars and restaurants, of course, but the local alcohol tax will likely put an end to them. Outside the downtown core there's no after work drinking because everyone drives and anyway socializing isn't part of the local culture.

In my line of work, it's very rare that you don't stay for a drink after closing with everyone.. Or go in on your days off for discounted prices...

I work in retail (ironically enough, selling booze!) and were I to suggest going for a drink after work to anybody I work with, they'd look at me like I had 3 heads.

?
Stroll around my neighbourhood when it's nice and the garage doors are open and you'll see the stacks of 24s.
1) People have garages? Whole rooms for cars
?2) People don't nick the beer?
3) Why are the garage doors open when the weather's nice?
4) You're not my grandson. Whose feet are these?

What, another half of the 10%?! Should we type with finger spaces
?
You can tell I live in London because my first thoughts were:
1) People have garages? Whole rooms for cars
?
2) People don't nick the beer?
3) Why are the garage doors open when the weather's nice?
4) You're not my grandson. Whose feet are these?

DIY = drinking beer in the garage.
I have yet to have beer nicked. You'd have a job nicking anything from my house. We have a very effective intruder alert system.
