Question Another tipping question...

As lots of you know I became a 1st time puppy Mum last year, now Henry is a big big dog and summer is comming and we want some time away and he can't come , so we have found a very good vacation home for him and has been a couple of times already. Am I supposed to tip the Kennel staff?

He is comming with us in or RV for our 1st ever RV trip over the long weekend - so we don't always leave him behind

Thanks
Piff

I hate tipping! My dog groomer now has a tip thing on her ATM machine. I told her - I hate tipping. If you want more money just charge me more but I won't tip.

I told my hairdressser the same thing - if you want more money - put your prices up and I will pay whatever you charge (within reason).

What I hate about it mostly is - you never know who to tip and you never know how much to tip. My son gets mad if I don't want to tip in a restaurant. If the service is dreadful - he still always tips. If the service is dreadful and I don't intend going back - I wouldn't bother to tip if I was on my own.

You are not alone there. Why would anyone in their right mind *still* leave a tip if they received bad service?

A group of friends and I once had service so bad we left 1 cent less than the total bill.

The only things I've ever tipped for are restaurants, taxis, and haircuts.

I can't think of anything else I would bother tipping for.

Thank you all - just didn't want to be 'in the wrong' for not tipping. So appreciate your answers.

I don't tip when we leave the animals at a facility while we're away but I did tip the dog walker who came to our place for a week. I never saw her so I left a note, saying roughly, "I'm not sure of the etiquette with regard to tipping dog walkers so, if you are insulted or offended by tipping, please leave the money here".

I got returned to a nice note explaining that cash tips are most welcome.

We had our fridge/freezer delivered when we moved in....

The guy was hanging around saying " I'll be off then...if that's everything...I'll be off..." He had brought it in on wheels and put it straight in the slot...that was it, didn't even take 3 mins...and he scraped it along my mail box.

I agree I hate tipping.....it just makes me feel awkward.

How about Bell Boys, the chaps who bring your suitcases to your room in posh hotels?
Milkman, Postman & Dustman all get a good tip at Christmas.

Same as a restaurant. Unless he drops the pizza box face down on the sidewalk before ringing the bell.

That seems about right, 50 quid or so is average for a move in the UK.
