Well its the morning after the night before and am I ashamed?? Actually its not a bad cut its just not what I asked for and too short- must remember to wash neck now!
The first haircut I had here was bad, uneven lengths, odd cut, and I paid $40odd for that. This time it was First Choice, $15 same as Wannabe. So although I dont like it much I have to admit its an OK cut. (hmmmmm mashed potatoes - must make some later it's been a while) |

Batty - in my book if they give you a cut that is not what you asked for - it's a bad cut. It's like going to Safeway, asking for carrots and being given potatoes. :frown:
(hmmmmm mashed potatoes - must make some later it's been a while) Cheesy mash is very good..... |

I see your point. Hairdressers eh, and to think once upon a time Robert Lobetta used to cut my hair, now its First Choice, - and arent they a travel agent anyway?
Cheesy mash is very good..... First choice need a name change to "Last Choice" lol |

What level of peroxide is considered professional strength? I brought 20 Vol with me from Texas, but my hair hardly needs any lifting at all. I am hoping I can at least get 20 Vol from Sally Beauty Supplies (although I've been watering it down to 10 vol lately) as my sister sends me the tint over (Schwarzkopf Igora Royal- 6-888 extra binging red!!) and I mix it with the peroxide, hand hubby the tint brush and bowl, and let him get on with it :D
Anything above 20vol i.e. 40 or 60 vol, is considered professional strength. You can buy 20 vol in a beauty supplies shop here and i think Shoppers Drug Mart (although i could be wrong). I know i certainly can't buy anything stronger than 20 vol without getting a licence. They won't even recognize my UK qualifications :frown: And i thought the UK was a nanny state! Jo xx p.s Could you buy anything stronger in the States? - might be worth a trip across the border. Although BC & Sask rules might be different also. |

Is it worth you going a doing a bit of studying so you can at least get supplies, I was looking at courses a few weeks ago (looking to see how long the students studied for) and they didn't seem all that long. My sister studied for years and always seems to be going on new courses, she's actually taking her teaching certificate at night while teaching in college a few days a week, and working in the salon another few days, and then in the small amount of spare time she has she is doing mobile. Might be handy to have your licence if you ever want to make a bit of extra cash and I don't think you'll be short of customers, you'll get all the expats that live near you for a start :D |

I'm starting to wonder why he even lets me cut it. Once a simple mistake, but twice, pure stupidity.:o The thing is, he always seems to ask me to cut it once we have had a few, and in an effort to get it done and over with I always seem to start cutting before checking to see if I have a guard on. I think he is as much to blame for this as I am, since he asks me if I have the right guard on after I have started cutting. |

Destination Nova Scotia....I'm not sure where in the province you are heading to, but if you are in Halifax check out Thumpers - www.thumperssalon.com.
The owner Malcolm is a Brit and there is another stylist Christopher who is also from the UK....the salon is rated one of the best in Halifax...I highly recommend them! Hope it helps.... Chunkymonkey |

Maybe I should go and have it done at a 'salon' and get the full works, got to be worth it, I keep running out of baseball caps to wear. Me thinks its time for a re-think, once is excusable, twice is unforgettable and strike 3....your'e outa here :p |

Re: another crap haircut
 Strewth!! I better hope my OH doesn't read this!! She has always been concerned about decent clothes and hair stylists, after a few visits we made to Ontario, before we applied. We wondered why the haircuts looked a little strange, as well as some of the interesting fashion!!
I told her not to worry, as there must be some decent stylists around cause you occasionally saw some nice women with nice hair. Obviously they were tourists like us!! She'll have a cow if she reads this!! By the way i'm bald as a coot, so i should be fine!! No mullett cuts for me to worry about. Seems a bit like all the americans that wear there socks up to their knees when they have shorts on. And with sandles as well!! have you ever noticed!!WTF! is all that about!! And yes. Cheesy mash is ooooh so nice, but Double cream in a large Tim Hortons coffee, with a 6 pack of timbits.........Now thats what i'm talking about. Sigh!! |
