I am so dreading finding a hairdresser when I come over. I have really short hair and need to get it precision cut about every 6 weeks. I had the same hairdresser for 20 years and she moved away. It too me a year to find a new one I liked in the UK. Heaven help me in Canada!

I had my hair cut in England in January. Fantastic job. Just had the style "re-done" at the best local salon. OMG. :curse: I could have done better with a few pints and flymo. Don't ever get it coloured here either. Various shades of Trailer Park Orange (a copyrighted shade in BC), is all you will get.
shit I will stick to my bum bee tartan then next time Im over
self help is better eh

Well I guess I have been very fortunate, I have only had one really bad haircut since I got here, and never went back again.
Since then I have found a really good stylist and colourist, had it done three times so far with them, and have been well pleased.
Hubby on the other hand has been very unfortunate, he has been scalped twice since getting here. Now he has really short hair a #2, so it is pretty hard to get this one wrong, but what can I say, except

I attach herewith photographic evidence for your enjoyment.
yes it was me that done that

Oh, I don't know - there's a lot of Trailer Park Orange here in Alberta too. In fact, this is what I was dreading! I pointed to two women who were standing in the crowd watching the Labour Day parade in town, and whispered to my husband that if I came home the next day looking like that, just shoot me ! So far, my colour is OK - but I am watching carefully after every wash to see what it becomes. Just in case

Luckily i bought enough hair colour with me to see me through until i can go back to the uk and get some more. I can't buy professional strength peroxide here though, unless i have the licence, vicious circle. (Someone kindly offered to get me some, so i'm sorted.) But it kinda made me think the brass and orange toned highlights could may well be the work of an unlicensed "hairdresser".
I'll have to look into passing the exam, i think!

Ahhhh - all becomes clearer now - they list prices on the site:
Stylist
New Talent Cut = $45 (in other words crap?)
Stylist Cut = $55 (Not quite so crap?)
Senior Stylist Cut = $65 (Half decent?)
Master Stylist Cut = $75 (Decent?)
Educator Cut = $85 (No idea what this means - a DIY lesson maybe?..lol)

I never ever go for the most junior, you are asking for bother as they are more than likely newly qualified and looking for practice. I used to pay around $50 4 years ago so I would imagine I had the Senior Stylist, it is the level I go for here in Australia and the level I would go for in UK too.

I had some very good cuts and highlights at Josef Saleba salon - in Calgary, 7th St just off 17th Ave, SW.
