Annoying

How is it when didning out or in a bar when you pay the waiter/waitress actually ask "do you want change?" when you pay? My usual response is yes and them leave them nothing. I mean what a nerve!! Or am I over reacting?

Yeah but no where else in the world do you get that? I just wonder why it's done here..... I dunno; rubs me the wrong way. It's like asking for a tip. Usually one needs to earn it.

You get it in the States too. It's just a little reminder about the tip. Nothing worth getting worked up about.

It annoys me sometimes. Like once when I had a bill of $35 and I was paying with a $50. I thought that was a bit cheeky. I didn't not leave a tip, I just rounded down (to the nearest dollar) rather than up which is what I normally do. Somehow I doubt that this small protest was even noticed.

People live on the tips. They earn it by bringing you food and drink.

Whats even worse is when they automatically add the tip 15% for a group of 6 or more, even tho you are paying separate bills.. WTF A tip has to be earned not assumed:frown::frown:

I think a waitress who brings you your dinner has probably earned it.

I run a fleet of trucks supplying Canada with food stuffs, I dont get tips. Thats a lame reason for tipping...

It's how it works. You have the option not to eat, an option that will doubtless been chosen for you should you visit the same place twice.

This sounds like the scene at the beginning of Reservoir Dogs. You appear to be Mr Pink.

Funny my wife thinks the same. I am used to very good service from Switzerland, so the " Hi Guys I'm Suzy your server tonight" non culture does not wash with me, and until I find a waiter/ess that has a basic grasp of the rudimentary art of their job I wont tip. ie automaticaly refill all the wine glasses, not serve from what ever side they happen to be standing, not clearing the table until the last person has finished ,not giving the bill until its requested, sitting down in our booth for a chat and to rest her feet ???? ( this happened at The Keg.
