OK,

I'm having a hard time at the moment biting my tongue at certain posts\posters\mods.

so I would appreciate if you could patricipate in the poll.

When answering please disregard your pesonal opinion of me and bear in mind that I struggle to stay away from the site.

Three guesses which option I went for?!?

You forgot another one though which would have got my vote - 'I put people that annoy me on ignore, stay within the site rules and then the mods will leave me alone'. :D

You missed off the 'think that I am a needlessly self indulgent poster that requires constant reassurance that I am doing the right thing' option. That's the one I'd go for!;)

Trouble is:

1) you cant put mods on ignore :p
2) people can still quote the people who annoy you, and then you up seeing it anyway.
3) even people I like can post annoying\incorrect stuff

My advice would actually be that if this place is getting to you, then take a break in the real world and see how you feel about it in a few weeks, if you can stay away that long. Not that you seem all that inclined to listen to the mods...

I think this post is not really aimed at us deciding whether Butch should stay or go but merely showing you guys that people are happy with what he posts and therefore you guys should back off...Just my take.

On the other hand, ask yourself what else might motivate people to vote for him to stay on his present path...

It just seems like one gigantic ego trip to me anyway.

If he chooses to leave, then he leaves. If he chooses to ignore the repeated warnings he has had to play by the rules, then he will be banned. If he stays and continues to post within the rules, with the occasional amusing post, then all the better.

Am I missing some other possible outcome?

Yes, butch leaves and every other poster on BE decides he was unfairly treated and also leaves in solidarity and BE closes due to lack of use.

I do concede that this is a bit of outlier on the probability curve.

Sorry Iain, i've said it before and I'll say it again. A mod on this forum accussing someone else of being on an ego trip is the height of Irony.

Yes instead of BE having the occiasional break from

1) I miss aeros
2) i miss galaxy
3) I miss M+S
4) is $xxx enough to live yyy

I could go on but I have work to do what I am trying to say is lets face it without people like Butch, FK & many others BE would be an anonymous site full of people with 25 posts each cause there would be little else to talk about.

On the other hand if the above site is the one you want keep it up.

I haven't been on in a while cause that all BE is during the summer.

Oh shut up. It's only fools like you who take pleasure in pushing the boundaries of acceptable use who get moderated at all. If you played by the rules the mods wouldn't have cause to get involved.

It would appear that you take quite a fair degree of egotistical pleasure from your little games (seeing your pseudonym all over the board in the middle of the night, for example). From my recollection at the time, neither Iaink nor Christmasoompa put themselves forward as mods, they were nominated by others and accepted the challenge. I fail to see where the ego trip lies in that?
