I hope to God they or their family never happen upon this site.

The couple has committed a crime under many countries' law. Period. I think in Canada it's from 12 years old that your kids can be left alone. That's legal thing. And then comes a natural anger from any thinking parent. It's just biological - and there are no pills against that. So I wonder why you wonder (probably you have no kids).

How many things around us (car seats, beds, whatever) have that engraved: NEVER LEAVE YOUR CHILD UNATTENDED. Here in Europe, in 5 to 10 languages at the same time.

Our 3-year old still sleeps in our bedroom, which, I suspect, many will find a kind of pervert. But I have no idea what others do if their baby or toddler cries at night or throws the blanket or chokes. We may leave him for a couple of minutes on a porch but not more. Are we abnormal?

Hey don't be too hard on yourself, it's not easy being a parent. In my opinion it's better to be safe than sorry and letting go of those strings is hard to do.

I have a 2 year old daughter and have co-slept since she was born as she is a dreadful sleeper and needs me in the night so no, to me you're normal. I wouldn't leave my daughter under any circumstances but that doesn't make me a better parent than the McCann's. This sort of abduction is so rare that your child is more likely to be killed by lightening than abducted by a paedophile.

Most of us are aware of paedophiles etc and, in fact doctors, along with social workers and police, have the most experience in dealing with victims of such villains so they should have known better than leaving little ones alone.

We have to always keep a vigilant eye on our children because of the horrible things that can happen and the parents did not do that despite their professional experience.

I hope for the little girls sake she is found and that the parents have learned a terrible lesson and will not do that again. I would not wish for them to be prosecuted in any way either - they have been punished enough.

Oh without a doubt it's the sick low life that should be parted from their breath in my opinion.
I am not saying the parent's are to blame, as she could have been taken even if the parent's were asleep in the next room. It's just leaving 3 very small children along for any length of time is wrong...... 30 mins...thats a long time...how long would it take for a fire to take hold????

You should never have to justify to anyone wanting your baby close!! it's totally normal!

So what if your little one sleeps with you....both mine 8 & 6 still want to come and sleep with us!!!

They will be grown up all to quick, so enjoy it while you can.:)

As someone mentioned before the kids could wake up and get up to all sorts, never mind abduction....30 mins...mine could trash a room in 10 mins.

My 3 year old is the same. 2 minutes silence and I panic.

One of his favourite sayings is " Mummy , I think I did break it" or "Mummy I did get it all wet"

He is very charming though, I pity his teachers.:)

Gaynor,
It's OK here in Alberta. ;)

We don't need a license to produce the stuff but you may need one if you wish to sell it. :p:rofl::rofl::rofl:

On a more serious note. My heart goes out to the parents of this little one and I do hope she is found and returned safely to them.

But I have to ask what in hell were they thinking leaving three little ones alone for that length of time.

Something seriously lacking in the brain cell department with those two.

Apparently they 'didn't want to leave their children in the care of a strange babysitter' so decided to do what they did. You'd like to think that at least resort babysitters are 'vetted' even if they did any unspeakable acts to the children in their care or even abducted them, they'd be known to someone?
