With regard to the Manaus pitch being "in bad shape", England striker Wayne Rooney is unconcerned, saying: "It's the same for ourselves and Italy, so we'll both have to deal with that." (Source: BBC sport)
Wayne, I see the point you're trying to make but your conclusion might be a little inaccurate. Here's a picture from 2012 that will help you understand:

Not quite!
At quick glance I see the outfield players: Johnson, Gerrard, Milner, Henderson and Welbeck also played in that original team. Gerrard played the full match but didn't even get on that top 5 list.

I see the rioting has started (or should I say continued) already.
Not the image that FIFA wanted, but maybe it will put more pressure on Blatter? (haha!)

Looking at the Brazil game it seems that diving and faking injuries is the way to win the way to the final.

The atmosphere was terrible. What's the Brazilian version of the prawn sandwich brigade?

Good opener.
Was not a penalty and the lack of technology available to referees to review decisions spoils the odd game.
I thought Croatia would have had more of a go to be honest and didn't play to their strengths. They should have kept the ball and pushed it around more and were to direct surrendering too much possession to Brazil. Brazil played with 3 striker's which I felt left them open but also made the game a decent spectacle.
Overall Brazil deserved the win although there were one or two dodgy decisions.

Sorry James but when you look at it from this angle, it clearly is a penalty:

Mexico score two, they deemed off side. Oh dear!! Both onside goals. Hope England are taking note of the abismal reffing
