For all you socialisers out there a couple of "meetups".

I heard that there is a Mingle next Monday evening at a new bar called the BARN at ground level, Gurney Plaza. Actually I think it's called something like....BAR'N, which is silly, so I'm calling it BARN. Those ladies in the IWA can get a discount - you will know how. There's also some info on the link here:

There's a number of Penang groups popping up here and there on Facebook. One of the better ones, and quite lively, is Partners In Penang. It's a closed group (very sensible). So you will need to get on Facebook, do a search for it, then join up. You can easily opt out again, if you get fed up with it. It seems to be run by 2 or 3 expats from Antipodean parts. I don't know any of them. Anyway, they are doing their first meetup.... a lunch tomorrow (Wednesday August 17th). I noticed that one or two of the old MM2H crowd would be attending. I won't be going unfortunately.

If anyone is going to both or either, do put some feedback on here and let us all know if it was good or rubbish.

I'm always happy to host an adhoc meetup for newbies coming to Penang who have questions when I am there (usually November through March), not sure I want to go back to regular meetups as they can just become a chore, especially if there is a poor turnout.

Yes I agree....can be a lot of work, which is why it's good that a few others are starting something up. Partners In Penang now got 271 members so they're doing pretty good. So easy to set up on Facebook anyway.

Not particularly for MM2Hers or Newbies but those of you on farcebook may have seen plenty of flyers for Gusto Cafe's Harvest Festival events on both September 25th and October 2nd from midday onwards. Bands, food, drinks. You can try this link here:

I've also noticed that Partners in Penang (PiP) are choosing the first date as their next meetup too at the Gusto venue.

Did anyone go then? I saw a few pics posted on Farcebook and it looked to be.....kids, kids, beer and more kids. So I'm relieved I didn't go.
