There appears to be little appetite (forgive the pun) for a regular meetup so I'm not planning to take this any further at the moment. The door is open for anyone else who wants to take this on though

For those interested: There will be another Rumah Mat Salleh beach BBQ on Saturday 12 December from 17:30 onwards. Again on the beach in front of Infinity condo in Tanjung Bungah. For more info follow the links in the quoted post bellow.
When living in Penang I attended and helped organising the Rumah Mat Salleh beach BBQ's. They BBQ's were a great way to meet new people but haven't been organised for a while.
I have been informed a new group of people has blown new life in them and the first one will take place this Saturday 17th October from 17:30 onwards.
The BBQ will take place on the beach in front of the Infinity condominium. It's a potluck so bring your own food and drinks.
In the past a 10RM fee was asked to cover plates, cups, chairs, table, canopy and coal for the BBQ.

The plan is to make it a more regular event again that takes place every 6/8 weeks.

As nobody (it seems) is up for organizing meetups these days, perhaps others can post links to other "meetups" that they know about. This will help the Newbies amongst us

Also worth exploring is the meetup website, either for joining in or for starting your own meetup. For example, in Penang, see: http://www.meetup.com/find/?allMeetu...9&sort=default
The International Womens Association (IWA) also organises lots of events.
In Penang I can recommend going on a tour or two organised by Spiral Synergy - not a meetup, but a good way to meet other expats.
And if you enjoy running, the Hash House Harriers is an international group of non-competitive running social clubs, that originated in Malaysia in 1938. You don't have to be particularly fit, as there's a kind of handicap system. See: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hash_House_Harriers

It cannot be the forth one that is shut. I am certainly up for bridge, it has been a while, and tennis, similarly way out of practice.

Don't worry we are mostly very rusty with one absolute beginner. If you can make another post I will pm you to meet up and discuss as one of our number goes back to France shortly after Christmas.

Can anyone confirm if this is still going ahead, as there is nothing about the BBQ on there facebook page, and I emailed them to ask if it was still on and didn't get a reply.
