I am applying for a 175 under Computing Professional - specialising in Network Security/Firewall/Internet Security.

It's OK, I am learning to be patient since the visa approval takes even longer. I am dying to get to Oz but am patient enough to wait for it.

Guess I meant longer than the 12 weeks for ACS. I am looking forward to it. I have my App filled out and ready to go. I did make the mistake of getting my criminal record too soon, but if the Visa gets approved in 6-8 months it will still be good. It expires Dec 09. If I have to get it again, it will be OK too...That came back within 7 days.

Good Luck to you too!! Hopefully we will be getting our Congrats on here by mid to late 09!!

well....yes...lets hope for the best....but u are from low risk country..so it will be even fast for you..for me it will be also as I am from India and it comes under high risk country..anyways may be CSL will make some difference...if CSL and MODL does not change by the time we will get out ACS assesment and file the visa..I have not even started my application prepration..have to do it..some forms are too long..and main problem is we even cannot save them..we have to take print out only..how u filled the forms (sounds like dull question, but believe its pain in ass if u cannot save the forms as if we miss one thing we need to fill the whole form again.. :( )..

I filled out the printed paper forms.
It's funny the last certification I obtained was my A+ in 1996. ( [rant] After working in the field I believe certifications are a waste of time. I have worked with too many "Certified" people who had no clue as to what they were doing...MCSEs who didn't understand drive mapping or login scripts [/endrant] ) Having said that, I remember how nervous I was when hitting submit on the test completion, that is the same nervous feeling I have when sending any of these documents off. Even though I know it's not a one shot deal and they will call if I miss a piece of information, I still get nervous.

Yeah, I know exactly what you mean. I was ready to do my RPL when I found out that having MCSE can get me reviewed as Group B. So I thought; if I do RPL, at takes time, money and effort, and all I get is a positive review. If I do MCSE, it also takes time, money and effort, but then I get a positive assessment AND an extra qualification, which I'm sure can only help me in a strange country where no-one knows me.

Well..guys..I understand ur views..I am a SAP consultant...I have around 2.5 years of exp in SAP ERP and SAP BW/BI product..I don't have any SAP Certification..I worked in SAP labs for 2 years...and you know even in India (Where certification is not necessary)..employers ask for certifications..they say they have to present us to clients and client was certifications...

As per my understanding..certifications are must in countries like USA, AUS..if you have certification offcourse with knowledge, you will be able to sell ur self... :)

Thanks

My status is unchanged as well. It's OK 2 Feb. 2009 will be 12 weeks so I am not in a hurry. I hear this is the most difficult part. I am sure for me being in a non HR country and having 14 years of IT experience and a degree it makes it easier not to worry but I am a pretty patient person anyway. Customer service sometimes demands patience and the ability to let shrewd comments roll off of your back so to speak, I have become very good at both.

Don't worry guys it will happen and if there is a delay or request for more documentation, just smile gather then info needed and turn it in. One day in the near future we will be enjoying the fruits of our labor.

@tgregory73,

Your replies always give me confidance :)

But there is one more worry!! I heard that they are going to change the CSL and MODL at the end of Jan 2009. CSL is ok..I can wait for one more to get into AUS, not in hurry at all,but if MODL goes away..then my ponits will be 115 and I will not be able to apply for Visa :(...

That's why I just want to file my application before MODL list changes...by the way I am a SAP professional..workin in SAP BI domain..I have around 2.5 years of exp in SAP.

@ Senior folks,

Have you any idea, what profressions they can take from the CSL or MODL list in the near future..I am interested in computing profession only..

Please guide and give me a sigh of relief.

Worried

Aman

Hi Aman,

I don't think any of us know what will change on the MODL, I do think SAP Pro is a very marketable skill and I would love to tell you not to worry. From my understanding the list is built based on a lack of local professionals with skill sets in these areas, let's just hope there has not been a flood of new SAP professionals in AU since the last time the MODL was modified.

Good Luck to you. I am sure it will all work out.

Hello DDB,

Could you please other details also? Like when application was received and when it was acknowledged? Also your friends's occupation, skills, CSL/MODL etc....

If it got changed to in process today, Then I think it will take another 4-5 weeks....

Thanks

GENERAL SKILLED MIGRATION ADELAIDE
PROCESSING INFORMATION FOR THE WEEK COMMENCING:
19 January 2009
- Hide quoted text -

This is an automated e-mail response which provides weekly updated
information on skilled migration applications being processed by the
Adelaide Skilled Processing Centre. Please do not reply to this email
address. This mailbox is not monitored. Our contact details are listed
below.

ASPC APPLICATION ALLOCATION INFORMATION

On 17 December 2008 the Minister for Immigration and Citizenship announced
changes to the way General Skilled Migration applications will be allocated
and processed. Details can be found on the DIAC website at:
http://www.immi.gov.au/skilled/gener...hats-new.htm#j

As a result of this announcement from 1 January 2009 applications for
General Skilled Migration will be strictly allocated and processed in the
following priority order:

1. Applications with a successful State & Territory Nomination (until
all applications have been allocated); and then
2. Applications where the nominated occupation is on the Critical
Skills List (until all applications have been allocated); then
3. Applications where the nominated occupation is on the Migration
Occupations in Demand List (until all applications have been allocated);
then
4. All other remaining applications

This affects all applications lodged before and after 1 January 2009, both
paper lodged or electronically lodged. Applications which were already
allocated to case officers before 1 January 2009 are un-affected and will
be processed as usual to finalisation.

Applications are now being allocated as follows:

State & Territory Nominated Applications:
Subclass 134, 136, 137, 175, 176, 475, 487, 495, 885 and 886 applications
(processed by the ASPC and where a successful State or Territory Nomination
is held) will all be allocated to case officers for assessment by 13
February 2009.

Applications with Occupations on the Critical Skills List:
Applications are not being allocated at present

Applications with Occupations on the Migration Occupations in Demand List:
Applications are not being allocated at present

All Other Remaining Applications
Applications are not being allocated at present

Subclasses 485 and 887 are not subject to the above changes. The
allocation dates for these subclasses are as follows:

VC 485 (paper): 06 March 2008
VC 485 (E-lodged): 25 February 2008
VB 887: 22 September 2008

Changed to in process a few weeks ago. Hopefully they will start getting through these soon.

I'm applying under a 175, I should be classified as Group A under ASCO 2231-17 with hopefully Oracle under the MODL and CSL category.

Hello Nikhil,

No..I dont think this is the case...Time line for assesment is independent from whether your profession comes under MODL or not..my status is still in proces..i think for me it will take atleast 2 more weeks.

What's your professions. I am a SAP consultant..

Also, I dont think calling will help u in anyways!!!! just wait....ACS and DIAC is just a game of waiting...lol...

Thanks

Re: ACS--November applicats

I agree with the above, there is no point calling as there seem to be a few of us that submitted early november that have not heard anything yet.

They say it can take 10-12 weeks, so if you factor a few weeks of holidays over the Xmas period, then it probably will not be until the 1st/2nd week of Feb that you could expect anything.

I'd only start to consider calling, if lots of people who submitted around the same date as you have got responses, and you still haven't heard anything.

Well...man...we cannot comment upon whether you will get MODL ponts or not!!! you have very good chances if your work align with the MODL profession..I am sure you must be having things mentioned on ur company referene letter!! I am a SAP professional..everything mentioned in reference letter (though could not manage to get detail letter.only one page letter..with 5 responsibilities..)...I am not sure whether I will get the MODL points only...I wil also only apply if I get MODL points..coz i will not be able get required points then....

Hi Aman,

Well I finally received an update. My status is now "Awaiting Documents".
I received an email from ACS requesting a Certified Copy of my "qualification certificate " from my college. I have requested this from them and should have it to send off tomorrow. Hopefully it will be received in AU by Tues. "Sydney Time" and I can get an approval. It does mention in the email

"PLEASE NOTE THAT FURTHER REQUESTS WILL NOT BE MADE FOR ADDITIONAL DOCUMENTATION"

If I were to rant it would be towards my university. I took a copy of the ACS app requirements to them when requesting my transcripts and documents. After paying the "Processing fee" the documents were sealed and stamped in a "Tamper Proof Envelope" so I could only hope that they were correct in telling me everything I needed was there. Obviously it was not all there.

I hope you get an update soon. Feb. 2 will be 12 weeks to the day for me and I hope I can have my documentation to them by that time.

I will keep you posted.

Hey,

Man, that sucks!!! After a wait of 3 months..they are asking for more documents!!! it really sucks!!! They are ACS...Australian computer society..and the whole process sucks!!! Ahh It's OK guys....like I said before, it's a small price to pay for a great opportunity. Having been in IT for 14+ years I have developed patience and very thick skin.

Aman, I hope (and expect) SAP to remain on the MODL for you. Not that I have any inside information, I just feel it is a very marketable skill. Continue to develop your skill so when we do land in Oz, you can find a job straight away.

Hello,

Yes, I am sure with experience you also know how to be patient! Well, we guys are bit young ( I am only 25 :p ) so blood is bit hot!!! So waiting is the worst thing!!

Anyways, like I already said..ur words really bring some hope to me! I will take your words as advice from elder brother!!

I wish you clear all the hurdles on the way to Oz... :) I am waiting for everything :(
Thanks

Aman
