So my husband has been approved for his permanent residence. We are now pregnant. Where do we go from here? We want to move to Canada after the baby is born.

First, congrats!

On my phone so can't check the spreadsheet, do you have COPR in hand? Your husband will have to land to activate his COPR before the expiry date but he doesn't have to move, he can fly straight back out. You do not need to accompany him to land either.

Second, is your child going to be Canadian? If you were born in Canada then you're good to go; if not then you'll have to contact CIC to get your child added to your application after the birth as s/he will need to be sponsored.

Those are the first two questions for you to answer, then we can go from there!

Congrats again!

Thank you so much for such a helpful response! He hasn't got the CORP in hand, he just sent away a copy of his passport and pictures to get it this week! We are over the moon that we have been approved!

I wasn't born in Canada, I obtained my citizenship through my Canadian Mum. We want the baby to be born in London then have permanent resedence in Canada like my Husband. So I will contact them as soon as we have he baby.

My husband is going to have a weekend in Toronto once he has his CORP to buy us time! :-D

Thanks again!

Hi there, I just got my GCMS notes. It says recommend pass for eligibility, security in process and criminality not started. In one place it says the file location is "PA - Put Away" and another says it is Room 305. There has been no activity apart from me changing my address since mid-November. So good news in some respect but still waiting ... Come on London!

Deja Vu! That sounds similar to mine when I last checked. March application, updates in August, then no movement for a while, put away room 305. I since went in process.

Based on my experience you are just in the queue. It seems they do a quick initial review, fire off some requests then park applications for later review.

So you may just have to wait it out another couple of months.

At the 13 month mark I eventually ran out of patience and queried via my MP. A couple of days later I was in process. Quite possibly a genuine coincidence or maybe MP inquiry gave them a nudge, who knows?

So, I am at the point of having to apply for yet another extension to my visitor visa. As I am sitting at 10 months, I thought I would ask my MP to politely inquire as to whether there was any chance I might hear something in the next month, thereby saving $100. I may have mentioned the whole Mississauga processing thing, and the fact that it seems unfair 2015 applications are hearing before early to mid 2014 ones.... here is his response.

Upon receipt, I left a message for the Ministerial Enquiry Unit, I just got off the phone with an officer now.
As you mentioned, the application was received July 14th, 2014 and XXXXX was approved as sponsor August 28th, 2014.
Standard processing time in London is currently 29 months from the sponsor approval date.

'Your file was pre-assessed Dec 10th, 2014 and is scheduled to be assigned to an officer on May 30th, 2015.
No selection decision has been made, backgrounds are ongoing, fees are paid, and medicals are valid until July 11, 2015.

The officer noted an Access to Information Request on the file – she feels this may be slowing things down.

If you would like me to request another update in six months, I am happy to do so.

As for the claims that files are being processed in just a few months, it isn’t possible.

hmmmmmm we 'KNOW' it is possible, and I requested my GCMS notes at 8 months as I hadn't heard a peep and was worried that I might have been asked for further info, but missed an email. Guess that told me off for doing that. Oh well, I'll crawl back into my hole and continue to wait!
