Once issued, the CAL is valid for 14 days from the detail on the CAL.

Source: Application Guide for Foreign Applicants – International Experience Canada (IEC)

Also: they said IF APPLICABLE. So if you don't have a ticket and still in your home country: DON'T SWEAT IT.
Of course, there is conflicting information on CIC website. Here under work permit eligibility it says CAL is valid for 7 days:

International Mobility Program: Canadian interests – Reciprocal employment – International Experience Canada [R205(b)] (exemption code C21)

If they were able to meet the cap for Croatia in 20 minutes, why would they bother cancelling it because some people didn't "get notice"? As Oompa said, they've never given notice in the past, it's a relatively recent thing. And as Oompa said as well, it's easier on their servers if there are fewer people hammering them!

Just read on another forum that someone emailed BUNAC directly to ask them what they thought about the Recognised Organisation thing... here is what the guy over there said:

"I emailed BUNAC and they kind of said the same thing [that pre-2011 doesn't count towards quota], obviously didn't want to confirm tho. They said the 2008 visa [I guess this was his participation pre-2011] was issued by them and therefore technically not an IEC participation."

I guess they wouldn't 100% confirm because they didn't want to be liable, but potentially sounds promising.

Obviously. But seeing as they said that notice would be given and Croatia received none, I was wondering whether anyone else thought this would be the case across the board.

So, Croatia didn't get 72 hours notice, but their embassy did tell people it was open.

It is allowed, not sure why you think you can't post it? Under the site rule re: copyright you can't copy and paste the content, but a direct link is absolutely fine.

I tried helping people by setting up a Trello page with screenshots of the process so people could prepare ahead of time and you shut it down.

OK this is it: https://twitter.com/search?q=iec_EIC&src=typd

That's your own page though (site rule 9), I'm pretty sure you don't own Twitter.

OK cool. I had the impression it was a 'post nothing from outside of BE' rule. So if it's written by somebody else and not me, it's ok?

Absolutely. You just can't post your own website/blog/Facebook page etc, but posting one belonging to a third party is fine.

So basically we have no clue whether they'll announce the UK opening time or not, meaning that a lot of us (in work) might be ****ed.

Edit:

Just to double check, there is literally nothing we can sign up for before hand right? Like no accounts we can create to gain an advantage in time, seen as it'll essentially be a sprint off the sound of the gun.
