hi i have a flight booked for thursday.
Unfortunately my mother is very sick so i am going home for 2 weeks.Do i need to show the canadian IO a return ticket?OR just explain why i went home and that i am applying for PR?

Yes, you will need to have a return ticket (back to the UK, even though you don't plan to use it). You're not yet entitled to anything other than visitor status in Canada, so you most likely wouldn't even get as far as being allowed on the plane in the UK with a one-way ticket, never mind getting through immigration at the other end.
