Hi Bill!
We don't go to restaurants often - my (Hungarian ...) wife is a fantastic cook but sometimes we visit the Piizzeria Pala on the main road to Dorog.
We also enjoy the Spejz, an Italian restaurant directly on the Danube just outside Esztergom.
In the city there are several quite good but also expensive restaurants. You would have to look them up on the net because I forgot their names and menues.
Just across the Danube via the Maria bridge in Sturovo (Slovakia) we found the Casablanca (yes, named after the movie ...) also very nice with good food - and Pilsner Urquell straight from the tap!!!
And nearby is a Slovak Lidl supermarket with good prices and offers.- but prices are in €.
