This time around it was not just a trip to Goa but a silver wedding anniversary trip of a lifetime, all booked and paid for and non refundable, Delhi. agra {taj mahal} Kerala on a houseboat then off to take possesion of our apartment in Goa. I just wished I had never booked any of it, and I certainly wished we had never bought off plan in Goa 4 years ago.
We only wanted to go for three weeks in December. the same amount of time they have had our passport for, but without our passport unlike any other country in the EU we cannot travel because this country does not have identity cards so my husband cannot even carry out his work back out in Germany. where is the sanity in all this !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for the number I (Dean) have just finished on the phone to the contact number they provide on the web site. This is about the 6th time of calling and they can not tell me what the delay is. however the lady has taken my mobile number and will come back to me later today:fingerscrossed:. If I get no joy from her then Nicci or I the number provided

I haven't applied for mine yet - intend going in person to the London office in a couple of weeks after filling in on-line (as I did last year). We have return flights, but I need to change the return flight once I get out there. My ticket currently has us returning on 21 January but we will change it (with Kingfisher) to end of April as soon as we arrive. My question is: what date do I put on my visa application: my current ticketed date or my intended leaving date? Does it matter? If I put 21 January to match with ticket, will it cause problems later?

No it won't cause problems. IMHO, best if you put 21st January since that is the ticket you have, and for some strange reason they have asked someone last week to submit proof of their return ticket. I have never known them to do this before, and I can't understand the relevance.

The most important thing is that while you are in India the duration of your visa is valid, no matter when you finally return, otherwise you will be penalised at point of departure from India for overstaying your welcome as an illegal alien, maybe a Vulcan or a Jedi?

We applied in July for business visa got a 1 year no problem.

JEB1, I would change my return flight dates with Kingfisher from Jan 21 to the end of April now (before your trip and before you apply for the visa). when you apply for the visa you can put the intended leaving date as end of april as indicated in your updated ticket .
imho if you put jan 21 now to match your current ticket dates there is a possibility that they may give you a visa which is valid prior to actual intended date of return in april - in which case you would have to reapply for an extension in india - resulting in stress, running around and uncertainty ..

Assuming it is a tourist visa, this cannot be re-applied for, or extended in India, full stop.

VFS - have got everybody jumping through hoops. These senarios are absolutely disgusting especially when you can't get hold of anybody
emails take 5 days to get a reply and you hang on the phone at over £1 a minute, :curse::curse::curse::mad:

Sent to RAC for international driving licence :rofl: Monday they rang today to see if we really wanted to drive in India :thumbup: Perhaps the guy on the phone had been there for a holiday.
