My own experience ! :thumbsup:

Filled out our forms on line ( took several attempts though ) printed the forms off made the appointment on line, went to Birmingham VGFS Global office the next day, checked in and was seen within half an hour, the helpful assistant went through my paperwork told me I could pick up our business visa's at the end of the week but suggested and explained their courier service £7.40 which I took advantage of, and bingo the visa's duly arrived at the end of the week !:thumbsup:

Hi Excelsior,

As far as I'm aware there has been little or no 'press' mention of visa on arrival for the 18 countries concerned since the newspaper article from February 2008 in your link.

The only changes are that if you are a tourist from the former USSR/CCCP then for $40 you can have a Temporary Landing Facility/Temporary Landing Permit - allegedly this was made available so 'Russian' visitors to Goa from cities thousands of miles from Moscow & an Indian consulate could go on on holiday there. Some say, that it's a way of getting otherwise undesirables (Russian Mafia, prostitutes etc etc) into India as there are no background chacks on the people arriving on TLF/TLP.

I would imagine that the ongoing 'terror threat' will be one of many reasons why visa on arrival has not appeared to progress since Feb 08.

By the way what is its maximum duration (how long can they stay)?

TOI (Times of India) has understated the number of arrivals using this emergency facility. It was reported elsewhere as being in the order of around 5,000 persons as of mid season Feb 2009.

Don't know how the journalist comes to this conclusion; 'So after an era of easy travel rules, Goa may be headed for a tougher regime which, some say, would be at odds with its image as a sun-kissed getaway for leisure and entertainment.'

True, the visa regime has become problematic, expensive and discriminatory against Brits, while the Director of Ports and Customs at Dabolim is subverting an emergency facility at the behest of that sector of tourism which seeks to encourage starred 'inclusive' package tourists from Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan.

Why have they not extended the corruption of this facility to other nationalities who also like starred inclusive package holidays, or more importantly, to those who don't?

acronyms - she understands after H told her WTF - the visa problem I have had she would say a lot of Bollocks - so many on this forum have been
unlucky getting their passports - perhaps you should have been pimps and prostitutes. KC you are a lucky sod. :thumbsup:
