Yes. Take with you copies of your wife's documents, passport, visa etc. as your visa is dependent on her status.

(What happened about your AI flight?)

Does your new visa have the 'overstamp' "no need to register if stay less than 180 days"? How is it worded?

Thank you for that information about the fact that the overstamp is now there again.

Someone in authority must have realised the problems caused when the overstamp is not there.

My e-mail protests were not answered. I will try to get it added to my visa before next trip.

Bipat - from what leegrand said this is not the old 'No Reg. req'd if ...' stamp but 'regn req if cont st exceeds 180 days...'

N.B. for many FN's (myself included) the ability to Register within 14 days is a big advantage: a RP is very useful when dealing with Indian bureaucracy - some (e.g.RTO Mapusa) will only accept RP as 'proof of legal presence'/ residence in India. I would advise leegrand to get an RP.

Well said Andy!

Those with PIO/OCI/GANDHI'S LOVECHILD status have no idea what hoops true "foreigners" (ex-pats ??) have to jump through to please the or-thorities.

Its a whole different ball-game but whenever I point this out I get a bucket-full of "this forum is for everyone" so have stopped bothering.

J5,-- Andy ---- do you actually read previous posts except the last one. I had advised Lee that YES, Yes he should register.

Having married and having now aquired a 5 year X. His visa has an overstamp requiring registration if he intends to stay more than 180 days. THIS IS New compared with last year when there was no over stamp on the visas issued.

I merely thanked him for letting [B]us[/B, everyone know that an overstamp is now back on the 5 year visa.

What is your problem J5 when you have no need of any sort of visa?????

Those of us expats who have duties and obligations to visit aging, ill, relatives and family events may have to go for instant short trips, not just pleasure and these visa differences are important. We are foreigners also.

With respect Dread, Andy misreads my post and informs me that I should have told Lee to do what I actually in fact did tell him to do.

J5 joins in to congratulate Andy for his mistaken post and takes the chance to complain unpleasantly about PIO's etc. (which Lee has become by marriage (and you say you are pleased).

All from a simple post answering Lee with a yes "do register" and asking him if there was an overstamp on the visa again.

OMG wouldn't you be irritated at a simple exchange of posts turning into a J5 tirade directed at--- "her".

Lee you have to go to the Foreigner Registration Office in Panjim. You are the foreigner so you have to register if you are staying more than 180 days.
As 10 days have passed you will have to pay a fine for late registration, as before 14 days means getting the registration cert. before then.

Unless you have already done this?

(Many congratulations to you both.)

Lee just read above again now realise your "won't" meant 'wouldn't', I presume before your wedding
So hopefully you have plenty of time to register, you will get your RP then.

Thought the rest of us didn't read stuff properly?

Lee, when you deal with local authorities, best to get things right?
Its Reis Magos not Margos, and assume you didn't apply to panch (individual "councillor" but either sarpanch "head councillor"or panchayat, actual combined council?

If you dont get things "spot on" in Goa, it will be used as an excuse to jerk you around. Good luck with your plans........
