Hi all, well this is most interesting, someone who wants to give free, unbiased advice should be courted and treated with respect, somebody once said about truths coming from the mouths of babes and sucklings so ask some more questions and out of the answers some seeds of truth may appear.
Oh yes and can we please use the English language and not TEXT I am too old and can't understand it all.
Thankyou
TP

Hi Goan Friend a very good question to put to all those who have purchased property in Foreign places let alone Goa.
Why do people buy outside of their own country, why do people migrate, why do people go on holiday to foreign places? Is it because they wish to broaden their outlook on life, meet and try to understand other cultures and other nationalities points of view? Or is it that in the case of migrants they feel that another country can offer them a better way of life?
People buy things for many reasons it may be for profit, it may be because it will remind them of good times they had visiting that country, it may even be that at some point they would like to migrate to that country, a country that they enjoyed on holiday and where they met people and realised that the lifestyle was one they would like to embrace.
What do you think?
Regards

Most people here purchased property because they loved Goa and the friendliness of the people, not for profit - it is just the way things have now turned out that people are bitter. Ours was for the inheritance of our grandchildren, who have many young goan friend and love going to their 'local' homes, visiting the schools and they now realise how lucky they are in their schools. etc.

here is a story which relates to the goans, a scorpian and a frog walking through the desert, they need each other but they don;t trust each other, they come across a river, the frog o.k, he can swim, but the scorpian can;t, so the scorpian says let me climb on your back and you can carry me, to the frog, the frog says no way, if i do that you will sting me, no no says the scorpian, i won;t, o.k says the frog, i will carry you, but half way the scorpian stings the frog, as the frog is dying, why did you do that, we will both drown now, i;m sorry said the scorpian, it;s was in my nature to betray you, like it;s in the goans nature to betray f.n

Hi Noni
I know and understand. I was just seeking an unbiased insight.

noni;

i joined this forum because of the goan bashing i saw going on. i was told this is not the case. but from jose1's post and your reaction to it, i see see bashing is not only going on here but is being condoned by u, the moderator.

wat with comparisons made to scorpions, coconut heads and vile country et all.

have the goan people hurt u guys in anyway, or the goan government. where in the world do government actions reflect the view and actions of their people? the US and UK have a military presence in Iraq and afghanistan. how many of u Brits support this policy?

why blame the goan ppl for this mess. when FN's came in and started buying flats and property at such exhorbitant rates, local goans were left with no option. there may be 50000 goans in the UK who own land. good for them. wat abt the 1 miilion here in goa who cannot buy land in their own state because of where the rates have reached? have you considered the impact you guys have had on the property rates?

you guys are holding me on my word of 'unbiased'. but u yourselves are being sarcastic and trying to bait me and trying to provoke me.

you cannot generalise and say goans are cheats and will backstab you and cheat you.

old man;
you are talking abt the hand that feeds us? do you know how many brits in goa avail of goa's free hospital services and psychiatric services? do you know how brits commit crimes here (drugs etc) and are in jail eating free food etc.? do you know how many brits on the dole come to goa because this is one of the few places they can afford?

do you want me to generalise and say all Brits are on the dole and can only afford to live here cos there were not good enough to make it in their own country?

So OLD MAN:- No, i have not signed your petition cos i see no need to. why should i listen to insults on this forum, nod my head and say 'yes' i will support you?

i am a goan. i have not cheated you in anyway. i am not a scorpion. i am not a coconut head.

NONI; just my opinion, but like Jose1 i am entitled to it, no matter how many feathers i ruffle and no matter whose sentiments i hurt right?!

JOSE!: be careful a 'coconut' does not fall on your head when you walk around this 'vile' country.

Goan friend, you came here to offer advice and help to the forum
You have had one person (Jose) make a post that has upset you

But now your attitude seems to have changed with ALL the posters on here

So if you are here to offer advice and help then be friendly and do so. If, however, you have decided (in your words) not to support them then its really best that you refrain from posting

I hope you stay and become a part of the forum

No comment is needed from anyone else, thanks

Thanks for that Mitzy.

i'd like to clarify. my attitude has not changed. i am still here to offer advise.

of course jose1's comments upset me. i am only human and a proud goan and indian. why should i be insulted by others when all i offered was to help?
it didn't help either that noni didn't see anything wrong with jose1's comments either. but surprisingly my comments are being seen as 'unfriendly'. do you only approve comments that you agree with?

while i offered to help (and i did as you will see from my posts) i was then drowned under insults and jibes. the opportunity was taken to then target me as if i was the one responsible for the whole mess.

even now, i dont see anyone admonishing Jose1 for his comments about Goans and Indians. But i am supposed to buck up, ignore what he said and continue being friendly?

and wat abt comments like 'bite off the hands that feed them'? come on! yes tourism is the mainstay of our economy and we all know that.

again i say, i'd rather people ask for advice and i gladly answer them. any snide comments can be posted on other threads.

and as mitzyboy said...enough said..

My question again to you is "what advise can you give to us that hasnt already been given over the last 2 years"?
you said in a statement about taking action against the advocates and builders! ok if we do that it will first cost us alot of money, which i for one havent got to spare now due to having to go back and froth to get a 6 month tourist visa!
2 we make waves like taking goans to court we may not get a visa!and dont tell me this dosent happen because we have first hand proof it does.
3 we will have to announce where we live not a good idea in light of whats happening to various FN and our friends getting threatened and beaten by angry and jealous people out there,
so that idea is just a pipe dream !!!!
As i said before the British foreigners office refuse to comment on any thing to do with the property situation.
top lawyers in Goa dont know what to do.
so please tell me how can you advise any of us, unless you know something we dont know if you do we are all in the same boat one way or another so spill the beans tell us !!!!!!!
