Just booked, British airways is the cheapest non-stop on e-bookers, £578 for 9th Dec. Prices go up on 10th. Would have preferred Jet but more expensive on todays rates.
We paid a bit more to get the overnight flight as staying in Mumbai for a time and want to avoid arriving in early hours.

Ugh! ugh! why is it whenever I purchase clothes in India for anybody, whatever the price, the colours run. If I purchase a dress in UK and find "Made in India" on the lable - the cloths are o.k.

It is a great mystery Noni (although FabIndia stuff doesn't run usually). The other mystery, if the garment is too big it doesn't shrink on washing, if it fits it will probably shrink!! When I buy Indian Kurtas etc. in Leicester I find the same happening.
(Don't live in Leicester just go for shopping).

In less than a year I`ve accumulated enough miles for a free one-way London to Mumbai!
I always fly with Jet, I find the service and food (Indian Vege) generally good, the evening flight out with a couple of hours stopover suits me fine. I have a longer wait flying back as I get the overnight flight but I find this good for a quick recovery from the change in time zones and with a good book and a drink the time just rushes by. Also their prices are about average and I use my airmiles for the ocaisional upgrade when I am travelling alone.

All clothes I buy in India I wash with a load of salt before I wear them, my Dughter in law once bought a caftan, put it on when she was still wet and ended up with the pattern on her skin. Luckily it did wash off easily.

Bought a beach sarong for our holiday in Turkey. Wore it the first day on the beach they had white leather(!) type sunbeds. At the end of the day the bed was black with dye - so embarrassed as was my back. Took the thing back to the hotel, and when I rinsed it the water was like ink. Straight into the bin.

When you are Economy and waiting 22 hours all you get offered are two meals of curry/rice priced at aroundd 30 Ruppes I would guess and a choice of , wait for it: a cold drink or a coffee. No way to have both!!!!!!!!!!!!! Would agree that their service on baord was fine but this got completely obliterated by the no star servicve in the airport. Not for me.
but their website says that hotel accommodation is provided for long stop overs - according to them the only difference is that Economy travellers have to make their own way to the hotel transfer desk?

Every swimming pool is open to the public on 24th June for the feast of St Jao.Siolim is renowned for this occasion and has a procession of dressed up boats comes up Chapora creek to the church. Its like a carnival and everyone turns out for it come rain or shine.
Sadly missed it by 3 days this year as visa ran out!!

Is that the river where the cross is in, saw the men on a long boat taking garlands to put on the cross.

Are you in the UK on the visa run? let us know how you get on. Looked at the price of flights as I would like to spend time in the Monsoon, but very expensive at the moment.
