When you have made three posts, you will be able to pm (private email) Dreadsoc and give her your story, in complete confidence, she is collating all the property stories and scams for the BRIISH HIGH COMMISSION. It is a long shot, but what else can we do. Have you read Buyer beware? |

Your recourse will depend on all these factors and others as I'm sure more enlightened members of this forum will advise! As an aside: If you google "Peter Marvey" you get a profile for a magician and illusionist. There are a lot of references to Macic acts and making things disappear! This may explain what happened to your money.... Julia x |

\\\\\\\\\\\\or not? Yes I got suckered! Johnny is OP you? Conversely, I would rather be made a fool of by a troll, than refuse to give help to the best of my knowledge. If I have done my best I am happy and satisfied. J x |

Why should I dear Johnny? I've never heard of 'Peter Marvay' myself. Just performing handy internet search for stranger who posts on here - now thinking about it - probably a troll! Quite honestly, having read this post carefully and the others you have posted in the last few days........you need help, Goa is getting to you like it does to a lot of people Best wishes for a speedy recovery..... The remark by sydone: 'I have bought in Goa via a UK company before with no probs' is interesting one wonders when. As for UK involvement, I was under the impression that Sydone's (slowly unfolding) problem was that the money was paid in the UK to a British fraudster? Albeit hand in glove with the Indian end. As to previous purchases, there have been many cases on various forums that indicate there are some Brits who have built up considerable portfolios of property in Goa over the past decade or so, and are blissfully unaware that it is probably no longer "owned" by them! . |

Welcome to BE. I am part of a small team of people on BE, led by Lewis Belworth, who are collating information on the Goa property situation. Please can you pm me with details of what happened to you. I have personally not heard of Marvey so would be very interested in finding out more. Once I know your full story I can also advise you on what steps you are able to take using UK laws, but would not want to post such on open site for obvious reasons. You can send me the information using just your site name and I guarantee you confidentiality. I woudl definitely suggest you take a read through the buyer beware thread too as you will find that you are one of many Brits experiencing these problems. Additionally ITV Homes from Hell are investigating the Goa property scams. I think in your case it would be well worth you sending in your story as it is current. You will find the contact details on the contacts sticky at the top of the threads. You can also do this anonymously using your BE site name. Look forward to receiving your information Dread - x |

Pause for thought here..... The name was Marvey, and the fact you've never heard of him means diddly-squat, a Google search means sweet f-all on a name, and the whole p*ss-take about magicians and making things dssappear was insensitive.

In all honesty when I re-read this original post and saw someone had parted with a large sum of money to an illusionist - or a conman stealing the identity of an illusionist, I thought it was a wind-up. Perhaps not though!
