The article I read was in hard copy and was about the budget as I get the Herald delivered each day. But next time I refer to an article I will look for it on the net and provide a link.

22 Mar: Ground Report. For the last year Goa is witness to the latest blockbuster 'police-drug mafia nexus' running houseful. The participants in this morbid 'police-drug mafia nexus' soap opera have flung at us the nuggets of intrigue, deception, histrionics and suspense. The casting couch has spread their net wide from Sweden to Israel for the star cast. The entire story is shot and revolves around Goa and only Goa... One by one character from Paul Mann's novel Ganja Coast published in 1995 is coming to live... www.goanvoice.org.uk |

Re: In To-day's Newspapers
Today has to be a milestone in the recent history of Zimbabwe-on Sea.....
The useless Chief Minister has seen fit to admit he is..........useless, totally and massively.....but of course, he doesnt have a problem with this. http://oheraldo.in/newscategory/Edit/15 In hot pursuit of this, is an expose of the recent tourism department trip to the USA. Please read this thoroughly, your sense of disbelief will grow by the paragraph! http://goachronicle.com/goa/expose/1...-a-disney-land Hope you noticed at the beginning, before they got on to the ludicrous waste of money in America, they blew rs40lakh (well over half a million quid) on attracting ONE Italian representative to their bean-feast. At that sort of money, surely Berlesconi would have been interested? Maybe if they had taken a few of the "resident" young Russian girls with them from Goa, the results would have been better? And here is a frank answer as to why murders in Goa are never properly investigated (and never will be!) http://www.indiablooms.com/NewsDetai...ils240311d.php Finally, and almost inconsequentially, there is the admitted illegal rape of the environment, compared almost humourously to the wonderful film, Avatar? http://www.thehindubusinessline.com/...cle1564543.ece Sorry, nearly forgot the wonderful Indian pilots who dont actually have a licence to fly the plane you are on! http://www.thestar.com/news/world/ar...-airlines?bn=1 After a re-read of my whole post, feel the need to emphasise this one should be read right through too Amazing how a regular poster or two on here keep trying to tell us its no different from the UK..................and remember, all these scandals are from ONE DAYS news! . . |

India’s grubby banknotes
25 Mar: Financial Times (UK). Drug-resistant strains of E. coli and 15 other bacteria can be found on almost all notes in the country, according to a study ... Every single note sampled in the study and 96 per cent of the coins carried at least one kind of bacteria. The strains found can cause severe gastric and respiratory diseases, according to the researchers... www.goanvoice.org.uk |

Currency has been recognised as the main vector of gastroenteritis for many years (I think the original research was done in Mexico). When I was in Iran in the 1970's it was so bad I used to iron my banknotes to sterilise them.
