Licences will be issued tomorrow or Friday.

If so, the Prospective shack "operators" must relish the prospect of catering for tourists from Russia etc etc. Personally, I don't bother with Majorda beach anymore too many shack names & menus in Cyrillic script for my liking.

Which shacks up there are good? We've been to Zeebop & Island View a while back & whilst they were okay they weren't stand out good enough to make them regular haunts (whilst only on relatively short holiday trips anyway).

To be honest we only use Island view, they had a new chef last year and the food was excellent. We don't use the shacks that much so can't realy comment but we avoid zeebop as i find it a total rip off.

I thought the application was 3000 rs! Or am I really going senile!
He doesn't make anything personally as the regulars who didn't get one or those short of cash for an application are offered them.

Maybe the application is 3000. The licenses are 30000 for busy beaches and 20000 for quieter ones. I think.

don't worry too much about the hard pressed Goan....... you will all be paying for it in the hyperinflationary prices of food and drink at the shacks, and you get the shits for free, but you'll still tip season long at your favourite shacks/bars/ rests/ taxis who wouldn't get a taxi out for you in monsoon and would rather piss on you when already drenched, and not when on fire.

Welcome to Touristan, you brought it on yourselves, pavements, supermarkets, fish and chips, bingo, karaoke, and all the rest of your zimmer time social evils, and the dysfunctional pavements are not only a massive PWD monoblock kickback scam but a driving hazard to anybody who has to find space to right or left to exit the road, which was once a sand track, for the avoidance of collision/manslaughter.

Morning Afaiknow! happy little chappie you are to-day. Just to let you know that I am not a zimmer framed tourist I too hate 99% of the social evils. Especially the dysfunctional pavements - think they were built to ensure the hospitals profitability - another scam.

Hadn't thought of that angle, you're probably correct, but then who's more cynical than who?

Kickbacks through the PWD, free monoblock driveways and compounds to those ' connected' to the politicos, and sponsorship by Vrundivan. Now it makes sense!

You don't have to be p"""""d to fall, down a hole in the pavement, water gulleys, etc. they are traps to extort monies out of you, or rob you whilst you are down the hole. Or to get my zimmer frame stuck.

well the pavements aren't good, and some of them have got a bit overgrown during the monsoon, but they are a bloody site better than nothing, which is what we had before, and they are one of the thing that tourists have been asking for for years.

Agree, BUT you still cannot look into shop windows whilst out on an evening walk, or look around whist walking say to Rising Waves - eyes on the floor, lumps, bumps, and holes, or you will be splattered on the pavement.
