Why move to Canada?

Re: Why move to Canada?
In an interview with David Frost in '69 he was asked if he was a racialist - a 60's term for what we now called racists - and he answered, after some weasel words, that, "we all are racialists".
Anyhow, anybody who used the term, "charming, wide-grinning piccaninnies. They cannot speak English" to describe Afro-Carribean children ('Rivers of Blood' Speech, 20th April 1968) is rather racist IMO and at the very least he wasn't above using the racism of others for his own political ends. Powell certainly has become the hero for bigots ever since, indeed, the BNP's mechandising arm does a roaring trade in "Enoch was Right" T-Shirts and Badges.
Check out this lovely looking individual!

I do, however, accept the thrust of your argument, having recently made it myself. To a large degree it doesn't matter what he actually said, he stands as a symbol today.

It's a pity that JonboyE homed in on my comment on
the demographic change that is evident in Greater Vancouver,
to me, of far greater importance was my comments on
the criminal element turning Vancouver area into a shooting gallery.

Re: Why move to Canada?
Hi Everyone. I am surprised my thread caused so much interest and I appreciate every and I mean every post made. It seems as racism is rampant there and this is what I d like to get out from in Ireland. Those complaining of the immigrants have their point. But ultimately it is down to YOUR governments who create these laws and loopholes etc which get used and abused by newcomers. Culture among aboriginal population to abuse the social welfare system is very pronounced as well. It is a big problem-bigger than it seems but if there is a carrot-there is somebody to want it. I regret my thread turned into a largerly racist discussion and I really appreciate the posts made to the proposed topic. Just to add a final line: I am in Ireland on my Working visa and have not been on social so far though sometimes feel like I would be better off on the f... dole. Strange isnit???

Re: Why move to Canada?
and this is "good news"
The number of people claiming asylum in the UK has fallen, according to official figures.
The figure for the last three months of 2009 fell 30% to 4,765.
The number of unauthorised migrants voluntarily leaving or being deported from the UK fell by three per cent.
There were far fewer immigrants coming from central and eastern Europe, with the Office of National Statistics (ONS) figures showing just 68,000 new arrivals from new eastern European states, compared to 100,000 in the year to June 2008.
The drop is thought to be a result of the financial crisis making Britain a less attractive country to migrate to.
The number of people claiming citizenship was up by almost a third, reaching 51,315 in the last quarter of 2009. The boost could be a response to government announcements that the criteria for citizenship is set to be toughened up.

LOL read by previous post then....
Where have you got these figures about "thousands"? And why do you keep putting quotation marks around the words political asylum as though it's a fake concept?

Re: Why move to Canada?
of course it's not the only place but it is THE place. They flood through Europe, Holland, France, Belgium, etc (there are thousands lining up in Calaise trying to get across the channle..WHy?) because Enlgand is the soft touch of Europe and we offer the most to them. Why else go all the way through Europe to get into the UK? For the weather?
We are known as a soft touch to all these people and they take advantage on a huge scale. It's sad and annoying to see.

My point being, if you believe the UK is alone in what you describe, you're very naive and as i said previously, i fear you will not enjoy living in Canada for the same reasons that you are unwilling to live in the UK.

Re: Why move to Canada?
This was never about racism...it is about people being allowed to rape our country for free money and resources. I do not give a monkies dik where they are from.
