The real answer always comes back to knowing why you want to change country in the first place and what you're expecting from that change.
Although I wouldn't give up life in Canada now, I would be the first to admit my reasons for coming here were stupid and that I really didn't do my research properly.

yes it is a lot to pay the mortgage, but i did say that it was just a figure i pulled out...i did reply and i did say that earlier.
. yes, you are right to withdraw your apolgy, as i never apologise without meaning it too.
thank you very much for the replies after id said i would leave it there. im glad i had a read of the recent messages as flogger and others have given me some hope! thank you flogger, you have definatly understood what i have been saying. and yes, my husband is going to ring crane companys in canada and find out what hours are 'normal' and distance travelled etc.
oh if we sold our house we would have a very nice sum of money to start somewhere else with, we wouldnt and couldnt contimplate thinking about a move otherwise.
yes, i did say that the wages all goes on the mortgage every month, but obviously theres money for other things, again i should have meade that clearer, but to be honest, i wasnt stating fact anf figure of our affairs. and yes, we live a comfortable life as we have had money in the past that we have used to make that so. i mean that a huge percentage of the wage goes on mortgage.
i loved what someone posted(sorry i cant remember your name) about having a love for a country and not what you hate about the one you have left(or words to that effect, sorry!) thats very good advice. im afraid i have never been to canada, so i cannot say i have love for the country, but i have loved almost everything i have read about it so far. my husband on the other hand has a great love for canada and if it werent for me saying no!, he would have tried to take me there years ago.
im so sorry that my post has caused some upset, that wasnt my intention. to be honest, i thought id just post a quick question and thats that. didnt think for a second, it would turn into me almost having to explain myself.
great thing is though, the next time i post on a site like this, i will definatley not mention why we want to move......not to upset the applecart.
thank you and thank you again, ive had some great advice and i will look up that guy who is trying to get work in vancouver but i have no idea how?
good luck to you all x

Don't think that NS or the rest of Canada is relevant though as the OP has already stated that they do not want cold winters (so NS probably not a great idea!) and that's why they are considering Vancouver vs Oz.
And yes, they may be lucky and get 3 weeks hols, but as 2 weeks is the norm for most people, thought it was worth mentioning as family time seems to be a big motivating factor.

Edit: OP - have just thought that we have a member who is also a crane operator and hoping to find a job in Vancouver, so might be worth sending __TJ__ a PM as hopefully they may be able to help you with some answers to your questions about the job over there.

Just thought that they may be of some use and worth you having a chat with if they don't mind.

One thing to remember about the forum is the more detail you provide, the more detailed and relevant the replies you get generally are.
Dont forget there is all sorts of great info in the wiki too

Its a challenge to figure out what's really what from the wide variety of responses any one question will get. It takes all sorts, and everyone is at different stages of the journey, heading in different directions, so Good Luck to you! I have seen posters here do a complete reverse on previously held opinions over time as experience changes perspective. That works both ways...people who loved it end up embittered, people who initially hated canada came to love it here.
Over time you come to read between the lines and take some views with a pinch of salt, but thats what makes it interesting, no two people ever seem to see things exactly the same way, and personality clashes and previous history can make life more complicated for a new poster looking in from the outside!

I think someone posted a name...just go to the members list (in the tan bar), and search for it, then through their profile you can send private messages.

But it's more fun if it is
One thing you also need to keep in mind, Anna, is that the written word can often be misconstrued and replies or opinions can be taken in a way that the writer didn't intend.
I hope you enjoyed this thread as much as me

Personally, I'm bored crapless with it.
