It was a bit weird watching the Vacouver fireworks, new years eve in toronto and watching the St Paddies day parade in Montreal with out having a drink in my hand.
Depends where you go in the UK I suppose. For example, drinking in a public place in Glasgow is a no no and has been for some time. Not sure about the rest of the country these days as I have been a way a few years.

TV is crap compared to the UK

I have seen such a comment on many posts on this site. Could someone please enlighten me as to why Canadian TV content is considered crap compared to UK TV content?

In the UK there is no Little Mosque on the Prarie and there is no Corner Gas.

In the UK more air time is devoted to content than to advertising.

Even the adverts are better in the UK - there is at least more variety. If you gonna have to spend time watching mindless friggin adverts then the hell is compounded by CBC's prediliction for running the same ad twice, back to back in the ad break.

A PVR is an essential tool for Canadian TV watching.

The only TV I regularly see is "Heartland" which is on Sunday evenings. The OH watches it while doing other things and so misses parts of the "plot". She compensates for this by watching it three times in a row; yes, we have a lot of channels but many of them are the same but broadcast for different time zones. All the advert breaks during Heartland seem to be filled with repetitions of a short plug for a show called "Being Erica". Erica seems to wear clothes Bjork considered too odd and which were then remaindered to whichever frozen hellhole Erica lives in.

3. The bacon is horrible, it's all streaky stuff with no actual meat just fat.

4. The way the Canadians insist on saying "You're welcome" after each "thank you." But us Brits say Thank you far too much! It's not really an annoyance it's quite funny actually.

5. Canadians are lovely lovely people but they don't understand banter. I missed the British humour when I was there.
absolutely spot on!

Here are a couple more:

They don't know how to serve beer at anything other than close to freezing, even if it tastes better at cellar temperature.
Small town politics is corrupt and nobody says/does anything.
Oh yeah. And there are too many Christians.

Many Canadians when visiting the UK complain that soft drinks are often served too warm....things like this are swings and roundabouts IMHO.

Are you inferring that there is no small town political corruption in the UK....in one particular local council I am familiar in the UK, the amount of nepotism and what most people would consider as a conflict of interest was mind boggling.

CAMRA would have drawn and quartered if you dared mentioned 'beer' and 'lager' in the same sentence.

Oh. Another thing wrong with Canada. Too much deadly fast food.
Oh please ... deadly fast food?
only if you eat it daily in vast quantities and are stupid enough to buy it.
Or maybe you mean the USA or UK Chip Shops
