Well, there is a three game minimum. Better perhaps to be a pessimist and live life constantly amazed how well things are going, than to be a constantly disappointed optimist:)

Secretly deep down I think we have our best chance in many years of winning the thing, but we need a bit of luck and for Brazil's key players to continue to show the dodgy form they have showed for their club teams most of this year. There, I said it out loud. That should jinx any chance England had!

I have to admit it .. I think you're right. If they can't do it with the players available to them now, they never will ... :)

Ronaldinho form dodgy?
If he turns on half his skills we've had it. We need Terry as Captain, Rooney to keep sane, Gerrard and Lampard to be at top of their respective games.
Added to this the press will probably turn up something to undermine the team by June.
Shame.

As long as they stick with Roberto Carlos and the rest, Ronaldino will be lucky to get a decent pass to do anything with. And besides by the end of Barcelonas season hopefully he'll be overplayed(I hope).

Hey, Maybe Sol Campbell can serve a purpose for england after all and take the chance to kneecap him if they should happen to cross paths in the Paris<evil maniacal laughter>

I truly expect England to at least make semi finals or if not win the competition, optimist or what? :D
I have my two England car flags on little poles and two sticky England kit men ready and waiting to swap for my Reading ones once we get a little closer to the start of the world cup. Wouldn’t expect many to have much idea what we are on about though
Mind you Soccer seems to be one of the most popular sports among the kids now in my area every ware you go Boys and girls seem to be playing.
Within two days of getting off the plane I some how found myself coach of the Local Under 14 soccer team

I hope your right, but despite great England teams of the past we have a propensity for players to flounder when matched against greatness.
I was rather thinking along the lines of the gangling buffoon Crouch (apologies to LFC) being used as a sacrificial lamb to take him out if we meet at knockout stages. Double whammy so to speak.

But you have to call it "Soccer" in Canada to differentiate from the men in shiny tights, shoulder pads and crash helmets :D

Which brings me to another question????

Why do ALL but one (basketball) North American sports involve the wearing of poncy tight trousers and\or Body Armour? Take for example Lacrosse!!! Field Hockey is much more physical but do you see them in body armour????
AND why cant 'Football' and 'hockey' players keep going for more than 3 minutes at a time? Are these guys athletes or geriatrics????

As an ex hockey player who used to play alongside the lacross field at Uni, I can categorically deny that one. Its rather frowned upon in field hockey to whack the oposition in the head with your stick, but in lacrosse it seems to be a requirement of the game. Still, at least they dont use a severed head for the ball anymore :p

Female fan base. What is the point of most of these sports beyond tight trousers?

And besides... have you ever been hit by a lacrosse ball? :scared: My brothers played it and I bare the scars!

My OH is also an ex hockey player, lacrosse player and ballet dancer (yes VERY strange combination I agree). It was the Field Hockey injuries that cost her a place at the royal ballet school!!!
