we buy chese bulk at costco and freeze it.

In the end it's 'swings and roundabouts', the price of beef and salmon in canada is amazing, so cheap..
in my it opinion more than compensates for the beer and cheese.

Was back in the UK in Sept and a pint did average out at around 3 quid. However, I did have a pint in Wetherspoons for 1.20 pounds !! Prices vary much more than here where provincial gvt monopolies, decide they should be the ones selling booze. Can get beers here for $5-6, but usually it's nearer $7,with a tip on top as well. Not even a proper pint either (i.e. less).

true about the pints they tend to be 16 rather than 20 oz. there was an article in the province recently that was pointing out that a lot of bars advertise pints when they are really sleeves. There were a few that had real pints, but not many, seem to remember steam works in gas town had real pints. I'd say 7 buck is about right for downtown.
