This had to be one of the most pointless threads I have ever seen, but I had to read to the end lol (not to find any Canadian pulling techniques!)! Obviously the original question wasn't exactly very tactfully or sensitively put, but I think alot of the people that have replied to this have been unbelievably nasty. So who is worse, someone a bit neanderthal in their dating thoughts or someone who's first thought is to reply in a sly and 'sarky' way?
Oh and I have only posted this as I have just noticed the 'posted' number on the side and feel a bit of a novice lol.

I would assume that people who are posting on here have lurked or are semi familiar with the tongue in cheek sarcasm of this board....
realistically, his questions were answered early on in the piece and the rest is just harmless banter....

It must be the 'equality and diversity' lecture I was subjected to at work yesterday! Everything said or written has suddenly got dark and sinister undertones in my mind. I will have to have a word with myself and tell a few mother in law jokes.

Good God, How come I never realised I was married to some exotic foreign bird.
She sounds so hot
Gotta go
Loved my time in Leeds. The english accent is a good ice breaker, but its not a deal maker. My OH said that I was the first (only?) English man she had met who wasnt a total wanker, so the reputation might work against you. Mind you her exposure was mostly limited to ESL teachers in the far east, so perhaps not a representative sample.
I came to a job with no idea what I was getting into. It worked out OK for me I guess. Just try not to have too many preconceptions.

I have sympathies with your treatment on the thread, particularly ones from people who can't write properly dissing Leeds. They have no idea. We lived near to Leeds for 10 yrs and its a fab place. In fact I was employed at the very institution I presume you are at!
I have no advice for pulling, just an observation.
I work with a range of people, amongst them a lot young grads and grads plus 2 or 3 years. Although this is in Calgary they are from all over Canada.
I am constantly amazed how they turn up as fresh graduates living with their partners and all the grads +2or3 are married. I found this amazing. They seem to 'settle down' five to 10 years before their UK counterparts. I am not sure why this is- maybe its connected with the drinking and therefore sleeping around less. I think they do a lot less riotous student stuff than in the UK, so there is less to do.
Of course it may be less easy to pull when the birds drink less. Not sure if this is part of your success or not.

It's messed up or me because I have accepted this job and foolishly I have never even been to NA or Canada. The Uni are giving me residence for a year in digs but I know sod all - it's bonkers. I bought a book today on Toronto and sat looking at it thinking "shit - it looks like a friggin monster of a place"
I'm crapping myself just flying over there - haven't a clue where I am going when I land. Just got a letter with some vague details and hoping a cabby can get me to my location.

You will quickly learn that Downtown Toronto is probably not that much bigger than Leeds city centre so no need to crap yourself about the size.
Start looking into decent winter clothes or you'll be too scared to go out.
And relax once you get on the plane you are saying good buy to women with big bums and bad teeth........
The English man is a prince in Toronto and the women will follow you where ever you go- just practice your Hugh Grant stutter and ask them if "they'd like to go for a cup of tea sometime".
