I think its odd that the linda macartney vegetarian food range mimics the favour of meat. If you dont eat meat and hope to live in a world where no-one eats meat then who is going to be able to say what meat tastes like? I dont think i have expresed that very well, but it seems like a copout to me.

i was a veggie for 15 years till i broke some bones and decided that this omnivorous digestive system of mine needed some meat. So now we eat meat a couple of times a week, we dont buy cheap factory produced meat. just meat from animals that havent been factory farmed. Any dairy and egg products we eat are organic. Thats my way of contributing to the planets life cycle. I firmly believe that if we didnt eat meat then there wouldnt be any pigs or sheep, cows yes but no male calves, they would all(mostly) be killed at birth as unproductive. My opinion is that macca and mrs belong to that group that have lost sight of the whole picture and just see the sentiment not the reality

just a question guys...theres lots of nasty comments/insults on this site......my question to all of you critising heather and paul....what do you do to make the world a better place? whether for animals or humans.
me? i am up at the crack of dawn tomorrow to volunteeer.you?
What? You volunteer? That makes you a real humanitarian whose opinion should count for more than someone else.

LOL!!! Totally hiliarious!!!

By the way, most people who are retired down here volunteer, but it doesn't make their views on the seal hunt any more important.

At least Paul and Heather could have been honest enough to concede that they are opposed to all hunting when Williams cornered them on the issue - but they were afraid to talk about that.

Meanwhile the systematic torture of animals in labs in the Uk continues unabated whilst there is technology that was developed in Canada to prevent such barbarity.

The claim is improbable; the UK has the world's most stringent standards for the treatment of laboratory animals, if a process is cruel the work is exported. The petty nationalism is misplaced; Canada is not more concerned with animal cruelty than other countries, that one developer of technology worked in Canada is neither here nor there.

Oh don't get your knickers all in a knot. I was using hyperbole just like the anti-sealing protesters use hyperbole... annoying isn't it?

On the other hand, the Draize eye test is still used in the UK, when Canadian technology has rendered it obsolete. Perhaps Paul and his spoiled little princess should be protesting that fact.

The Canadian method:

... and by the way, Dr. Sivak isn't just one developer who worked in Canada, he is a Canadian and has always worked in Canada and continues to do so and his work was funded by Canadian Goverments and he has a whole team of Canadian researchers working with him (check out his web site more thoroughly) .... he also taught me ocular anatomy.

I'm really quite unknotted. It sounds like a procedure that should be generally adopted. Were you/are you a (medical) doctor ?

Good, because it causes strangulation down under - and I don't mean Australia.

I'm a retired optometrist - retired at the old age of 40.

There are a few people on this board who've retired relatively early. Some of them seem to think it an achievement but I'm not sure that it is, don't you a bit as if you've got another 30 years to fill with nothing in particular ?

I'm sure it's not a struggle. I've always decided against quitting when I've had the chance, but opportunities come along every few years (when someone takes an interest in the business) and next time I think I might pack it in. (Not that I do much except turn up and post anyway.) I could be a campaigner for cruelty to animals.

Or you could be a salemen for that Scan Tox device (I'm just a promoter of it) and save the world while you make a fortune!

For much of the time while Williams tried to speak, Mrs. McCartney was speaking over him with her propaganda - and she was very rude and very hypocritical.

As for Paul, when Williams invited him to come to Newfoundland to learn more about the salient issues regarding the seal hunt, he replied that he was already in Newfoundland and saw all that he could. Williams had to explain to Paul that he was actually in Prince Edward Island (another province) and not in Newfoundland!

I had a good laugh at the end when Williams told the McCartneys that they are being used and Mrs. McCartney replied, "we are not being used".

Paul looked like not too bad a guy who you could almost reason with, but his wife is just a bitch - beautiful, but still a bitch who you can't reason with. Williams is obviously a very smart man; too bad he was barely allowed to speak.
I understand that this episode may have done the McCartney's and their cause a lot of damage because of their ignorant arrogance.

I agree - I watched the program and they certainly came across that way. Im a firm believer in protesting something that a person feels is unjust - when I still lived in Ontario, I was out there on the ice protesting - but in order for someone to look credible they have to know what they are talking about.

I agree....I think they blew it! They really didn't have their facts straight! I watched the interview on ATV with our local broadcaster...and Paul didn't shut up but really didn't say anything that was of interest. Our local broadcaster called him Sir Paul McCartney but Paul Mc Cartney call the Prime Minister...............Steve harper...really casual! No I do think he screwed up on this one! He didn't come prepared...and there isn't anyone that is going to stop something that has been going on for as long as 500 yrs! Paul even referred to the fact his ancestors were in the slave trade from Liverpool all those years ago and tried to compare the seal hunt to that! It was an intersting interview but not really an interview as Paul would not let the news guy speak!
