The Canadian economy is doing better than the UK, but its hardly paradise for job seekers.

Come for the experience, like University. I enjoyed University life, and a degree here is almost a requirement for many entry level jobs. But canadian employers also value experience too. New graduates have an unfortunate habit of thinking they know everything, it takes a few years before you realise the truth:)

Thanks for your reply.

A biker ****ed himself up by riding on the highway in shorts and a t-shirt, then crashing.
Six bikers have crashed and died around Vancouver so far this year.
A massive shooting and mass murder in a US cinema
The poor dog i mentioned above died
Some complaining about the weather
An elderly war veteran was robbed in his home by teenagers
A Drunk Driver in Abbortsford fell asleep at the wheel with his kids in the car

Just another Saturday night in Tottenham.....

I look around on here and I read all these posts from people who have made the journey to pursue their dreams of moving abroad and I feel somewhat envious. One of my friends moved across to Canada, Calgary about 9/10 months or so ago with his Canadian girlfriend (now fiance as they are engaged) and he's loving the life he's setup for himself there.

I don't face the same hurdles that many people here face in moving to Canada. I'm already a Canadian citizen courtesy of my grandfather, so I just need to fly there, get off the plane and find a job. So what the heck am I still doing here???

Sorry about the rant thread guys, I just needed to have a vent and say a few things. Need to get out of here and get myself to the Great White North!! Better get my CV updated pronto then and start putting out employment queries!!

Just read your post and I must admit although I don't think the UK is all doom and gloom I am keen to live in Canada after spending lots of time there travelling.
The thing is I love Vancouver but haven't been since 1990 and from what I read on here it has changed so much. It appears its over populated as so many people want to live there and house prices are more expensive than here.
I am due to graduate next year as an occupational therapist so i looked into work options in Alberta. The starting salary is about £2000 more than here and the job opportunities are in places like Fort Mcmurray which I believe is a 5 hr drive from Edmonton. My 67 yr old mother would struggle visiting us thats for sure.
Some days I am really keen to go and others I question the move??
i live in Bournemouth with sandy beaches and yes the weather is a bit rubbish this year but the weather is so changable in Canada too !!
i'm just saying that sometimes my mood can reflect my feelings so much and sometimes its worth looking at the positives about where you live.
Not been to Scotland but have too say so many travel writers say it is the most beautiful country in the world on a sunny day!!

Best wishes

Fort Mac and Bournemouth wow 2 totally different places. You really should do some research on property prices in Fort Mac or prices of rentals it might make you shudder.

Do you mean it is mega cheap or expensive. It looks a long way north. Wouldn't move anywhere without a visit and thorough investigation first!!
Where are you based ?

Fort McMurray is an oil boom town way up North. A trailer (mobile home) in a park will cost upwards of $500k to buy. Rents are expensive. I imagine a room in a shared house is $1500+ a month. Thats before you get into the social problems associated with living in a boom town. Suffice to say, Bournemouth it's not. For an extra GBP 2k. I'd stay in Bournemouth.;)
