So OP what is stopping you?

Honestly, absolutely nothing really when I look at things. I bought a new car about 3 weeks ago too, but that's not a reason to stop me going to Canada. I can hand that back if I need to. I just need to DO something about it!!

I figure, if everyone else can take the plunge when they have all the immigration hurdles to jump through, its so easy for me to get there so I really should just do it and start the ball rolling.

There is a potential opportunity for a job with my current company in Canada, but it would be in Halifax NS, and I want to go to Calgary AB. Plus.....I don't think I want to wait for the time it will take for my employer to get their backsides in gear to sort something given the fact they don't have a North American presence......yet I've been approached about a move to Canada for them!!

In your 1st post you say you have Canadian citizenship. Obviously I cant see anything but are you 100% sure you are a Canadian citizen. Were you born there or was your birth registered abroad. Not trying to be funny as some people think they have citizenship but they dont.
Try this link but if 100% sure then dont bother
http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/citizen...ules/index.asp

As with anything its finding that job quickly unless you have a shed load of money. Lots of jobs available in Alberta but also fierce competition in some sectors. Calgary aint cheap for housing.
Do your research then make the decision based on good info.

Trust me, I have Canadian citizenship. I hold a Canadian Passport, along with the little Canadian "Certificate of Citizenship" card that you get. Believe me, there's no issues there!! :)

Don't think I imagined it when I went through immigration at Calgary Airport and flashed my passport and citizenship card and I was almost waved on through. "Welcome home sir!" :D And yes....the guy did actually say that.

Shhh dont be saying stuff like that as it tarnishes my reputation as being a hard assed, uncompromising, inflexible, no common sense Immigration Officer/BSO and we are all incapable of doing a real job.

Then I can come back home to the UK. But right now, I just feel like I need to get out of here.

Then enjoy.

Just do yourself a favour and if you do make the move, stop reading/watching the news for a while otherwise you could be in the same position you're in now.

Then book some holiday and start applying for jobs in Calgary. You can do that without quitting your current job or doing anything else irreversible. If you get an offer then you can decide if you really want to move.

The trick is to keep reading/watching the UK news even after you've moved.

Are you sure it's high end and not some other kind of end?
