Hi, I'm in the same boat and have a Canadian passport as I was born in BC but grew up in the UK. I didn't get one of those citizenship cards though, but it does say Canadian Citizen on the passport
Anyway just go for it mate, you've got nothing to lose, and if it turns out to be a no-go, get on a plane and come back. |

Believe it or not, you're currently sitting in the best country in the world! imo - i'd trade countries with you in a heartbeat - the grass isn't always greener - but seems you have nothing to lose, so hop on that plane and come see for yourself. What's the worst that can happen? you don't like it and go back.
Don't live with regret:) |

Now of course, Canada isn't perfect by any means, but I'm confident that I can set myself up there with a decent living cracking away at my day to day IT career, while working on my book in my spare time!! :D I'm 27 years old, if I don't try now when I have nothing holding me here, then I risk never going and contstantly looking for excuses. Haha, I even get jokingly ridiculed at work when people say "Why are you here? You should be out in Canada, what's stopping you?" Answer: Not alot really, unless I try and dig out more excuses to not go. The only thing I would like to try and do is get my Microsoft Server certficiations out the way before I make the move, to make myself more marketable for employment in Canada. |

Like everywhere else, it will depend on where in Scotland. I am from Edinburgh and that's a fantastic city, if you didn't go there, then, yes, you missed quite alot. |

These days, everything here in the UK just seems to be all doom and gloom. There seems to be little joy in anything wherever I look and I think i've had enough.
I look around on here and I read all these posts from people who have made the journey to pursue their dreams of moving abroad and I feel somewhat envious. One of my friends moved across to Canada, Calgary about 9/10 months or so ago with his Canadian girlfriend (now fiance as they are engaged) and he's loving the life he's setup for himself there. I don't face the same hurdles that many people here face in moving to Canada. I'm already a Canadian citizen courtesy of my grandfather, so I just need to fly there, get off the plane and find a job. So what the heck am I still doing here??? Sorry about the rant thread guys, I just needed to have a vent and say a few things. Need to get out of here and get myself to the Great White North!! Better get my CV updated pronto then and start putting out employment queries!! |

But then again, sounds like your fed up where you are. Canada has just as many issues as everywhere else, eh. Hope you find what you're looking for. |

I lived in Edinburgh once - in the stockbridge colonies. It was great, if a little cold in the winter.
