As soon as we sell our house, so I really envy you.

We complete on our house in NS (Eastern Shore) in June and I have a job waiting for me.

Just desperate to sell. What's the secret?

Of you haven't already found it, I recommend that Wiki article called Job Hunting Process - Canada.

I was thinking about this the other day - here you get things thrown in with the sale - ie the seller gives you money towards closing costs. Can we do this in the UK?

We have already thought about this. We thought about paying the buyers stamp duty but decided to reduce it £25k instead as that brings in within £10k of the lower rate stamp duty (so people will see it within reach of such an offer).

We have thrown in all light fittings and window coverings, bathroom cabinets and some furniture. The house is complete in every way and finished to a high standard so there is no "finishing off" bonus to be added.

Can you suggest anything else?

I wish I did - I have just put mine on the classifieds section on here. If ours doesn't sell we are going to have to rent it out again which is a real pain in the B U M!

What about sticking it on ebay? Can we do this if we are listed with agents?

I put mine on ebay last month. I got 1 enquiry but no viewings. The agents were fine but they would still expect their fee, which is fine by me as long as it sells.

We are having an open house on 10th May and the local paper are doing a feature before then. We really need to sell before we move as we are using all our spare maney to buy our house so we will have none left for cars, furniture etc. Also we will go from 2 salaries to 1 when we move. I really don't want to rent out, it is too much hassle when you are so far away. Minor issues or repairs become such a pain to deal with.

I think I may stick mine on there later. Also the open house idea is a good one. I may speak with the estate agent about this. I don't want to rent ours out again and you are right - repairs and issues are a major pain so we want it gone. Just need the UK press to stop writing about the housing market!

There is masses fo construction work in NS - contact the local RDA (regional development agency). Ours, CORDA in Truro, is very helpful and there is much construstion there - condos, hospitals etc and it plans to host the 2011 games.
