I think its the "At the same time" thats the problem.

I suspect that the only way around it is to have the parents there as long term repeat visitors (with their own independent health insurance etc)

You could also possibly look at a different destination as an alternative, there isn't really any reason for you to be 'stuck' anywhere.

Unfortunately, as you will have found from your previous threads on the same subject, nobody has any other suggestions. You can still emigrate, but your mum wouldn't get PR until 4-5 years after you've moved.

The only thing that may be a good idea is a consultation with an immigration consultant, so that you can check there definitely are no other options. There aren't any that we can think of, but somebody with more immigration knowledge may have an idea.

Or, as I suggested in your other thread, look at other countries such as Oz and NZ.

Good luck.

Embrace it rather than think of being stuck. Maybe a move within the UK, a new job and lots of holidays to Canada. Life is what you make of it, we have many dreams but only one path to follow.

A surprisingly (given that you have resisted the temptation to go for the 'cud, wud, shud' in the OP) bang on post there Oink. If you can't emmigrate, then make the best of what you have in the UK. For example if it's space and fresh air you crave about Canada, moving from urban/suburban England to Scotland would give you much the same result as moving to Canada. And a lot cheaper too.

I don't know about your language skills, but have you thought about Europe? We kept it as a Plan C (after Canada and New Zealand). Thanks to the EU, it's relatively easy for Britons to move to anywhere in Europe, and each country has something different to offer.

We seriously considered Sweden, which has a fair number of English speakers, and Germany (we both speak German, to different standards), but there are a lot of different options. If you are keen to get out of the UK, it might be worth thinking about. From what we learned of Sweden, for example, you simply arrive and report to the local council office and you're in. We only did a bit of research, though, so I might have it completely wrong. But it is certainly a lot easier to emigrate to Europe than any of the more distant destinations.

Good luck with whatever you do.

Funnily enough, Sweden was (is!) our back-up plan should Canada go pear-shaped.

We had friends (an expat and her Swedish husband) in the north who might have been able to help us jobwise, but we were concerned about the relatively high taxes and the difficulty of becoming fluent in the language.

Luckily our Canadian visas came through, but I think we would have been happy if we'd worked hard to settle in Sweden. The country, especially in the north, is beautiful and the people are great.

Hi there

I don't understand why your Mum cannot go as a visitor and leave and return to Canada every 6 months until you can sponsor her. She only has to go to the states and back doesn't she?

Have looked at your other posts and see that you are a nurse. Where in Canada did you want to go because if you go to BC, Healthmatch will do most of it for you and pay most of the fees!! No need for that immigration leech that wanted to charge you 12,000 pounds, or was that a typo surely!!!

I am a single mum and doing it all myself. I am offering 6 month stints in Canada to all my friends and their older children to help with childcare.

Good luck

Sarah x

I doubt very much whether the OP's mother would be able to essentially "live" in Canada just by popping over the border every six months and then returning. The Immigration rules state that six months is the maximum and they would quickly become suspicious of someone who was effectively never leaving Canada as they then cease to be a genuine visitor.

Similarly if you are offering six months stints to friends etc you (or they) will need to show that they can support themselves (without working) for the full duration.

As long as they've got an unlimited plan, why on earth do people care that teenagers text a lot?
