Re: This forum!
I think it's quite normal being homesick from time to time.
We shall not forget or erase our roots and the lovely memories, our childhood and the things we loved once. :) |

We shall not forget or erase our roots and the lovely memories, our childhood and the things we loved once. :) Nor would you want to erase those wonderful memories. They are something to pass on to your children, grandchildren, etc. Although I was born and raised in Canada, my parents were born and raised in Ireland and Poland. We have spent two years discovering our "roots" in the old countries and it was a wonderful joyous experience to understand "where we came from" and Im very proud of what my parents and grandparents accomplished in Canada while never forgetting the country that was home at one time. |

We use to watch our videos and such "nostalgic" stuff ;) ...and not to forget Grandma's old-fashioned cake-recipes! You can't buy anything like this anywhere in the world, it's a traditional thingy and I love it! We wouldn't be what we are with no "history" and it's always nice to share our feelings with other expats, isn't it?! |
Re: This forum!
Can you really get Marmite over there????
The only way I can get it is from the British Shop (and I'm not paying those prices) or smuggled in via family and friends. Kind of like finding the Marmite in with the baking stuff as its "yeast" extract  Clearly no idea what its actually for  |

Re: This forum!
Things turned out good for them, and they no longer had anything to whinge about, so they left! :D
They also got fed up with being shot to pieces every time they said anything on this forum too I expect. |

They no longer had too much to complain about and were in a position to give a lot of great advice to the newbies in Canada. However, they felt unappreciated so said good bye and good luck. I'm sure they both are doing very well in Calgary - or else they would be back here complaining. :D |
Re: This forum!
Just so that everyone knows if you are involved in other britishexpats forums that mickj is using the name glaswegian. It is not the original glaswegians et al.
