...which has knocked the rate up into the 1.97s as a drop was already half priced in.
Might move some over tomorrow.

We moved money this morning and I am now unsubscribing from this thread as I just know it will become too depressing.

I'm in a massive panic now. We have just bought a house in BC and need to have the funds transferred by Dec 13th. Had a call from Schneiders and our guy reckons it will hit $1.85 this week (he figures on a BOE rate cut).
We were banking on $1.99 and I have no idea what to do. We made all our moving calculations on a $2.2 rate of exchange and I'm devastated we didn't buy before - feel paralysed by the decision....
Any of you finance peeps have any more insight? Feel like I need to decide right now... too much pressure...

Well, to flog this old horse yet again, just this very second I've seen the pound nosing over $2.00 CDN on the interbank rates, most welcome for those still with money to move / waiting on house sales.

We locked in same day, same rate, with Moneycorp - they must love this site, we locked in the whole lot!!!
Hubby now pacing, cursing and complaining..:curse:
...Oh please save me from this eternal torture.

This house sale still has not completed, I am wondering if it will EVER?

I keep telling my self not to look at the rate, but its really becoming an addiction.

Alvic, buy your car in the US, that will help with any shortfall, plus future prices for TV's etc will be lower.
I am ecstatic about the current rates, I labored with $2.45 and with $1.40 to the U.S., turnaround is fair play.

Thanks Howard for the advice....can you just go over the border and purchase a car and drive it back into Canada. Are there duties etc to be paid on it?

You also need to do a bit of research about which dealers will sell to you if they know that the car is going to Canada. Honda and a few others have a class action agaisnt them for threatening to remove the dealerships if cars are knowingly sold in the US with a final destination in Canada.

I keep shouting at OH for checking his daily exchange rate and look at me
