Seems fair to me!

Correct me if I'm wrong, most burgulars are drug addits who won't go near a house if it looks occupied - they just want to be in and out as quickly as possible?

Best thing to do is to fix an Alarm & window locks.

daily mail stereotype i'm afraid. currently several teams of professional criminals in my area. locks, alarms, dogs, persons present no deterrent, they are armed with knives and bats, kick down front door in middle of night and terrorise occupants into handing over keys to vehicles, unless they find them first. these are not high value either, last one was a 1 yr old megane convert/coupe £12k ish i would say. currently experiencing 5-6 of these a week.

Wow! My post was based on feedback from when I was burgled two years ago, abeit in Brussels. Only one house on my street has an intruder alarm. In the UK where my mother lives, it's 100%

We used to have a lot of car-jackings, but now everyone drives around with the doors locked - but I think you're experiencing the same phenomenon with cars stolen to order? It's a real shame. I hope you catch these people.

last time i stayed in edmonton the house we rented had no alarm or even locks on the windows, upstairs they didn't even have catches, they just sort of closed!!!!!. when i asked a realtor at one of the show homes if the new houses were fitted with alarms, he looked at me like i was one of those end of the world types that hide in the woods with 10yrs worth of oxtail soup.
we do catch them. most recent admitted to 100 burglaries. sentence? 4yrs, he'll be out in 2. there's justice for you.

100. I suppose they can do 3-4 a day; if they work hard, so in 1 to 1/2 months they're at a 100.

How can they remember that they've done 100?

To be honest, I don't mind so much if they are out in 2 years, so long as they don't re-offend. I have no experience here to imagine if such an offender would or not.

It sounds like you're going to be bored in Edmonton! How nice not living with an Alarm (I refused to have one fitted and agreed window locks with my insurance company. I was burgled because the cleaning lady forgot to put the blinds down - we were just unlucky).

I just have to post one of my favourite links:
http://www.baitcar.com/

adding.... I think it's amusing how many of the car thiefs wear seatbelts ... even the meth addicts.

adding again... this is the link I meant to post: http://www.baitcar.com/videos/oncoming
