The winning answer in the "As Canadian as..." competition in the Globe was
"possible under the circumstances."

Visiting Tim Hortons' coffee shops, everyone seems to rave about those. Personally I thought they were ok, but nothing special - visit one and decide for yourself.

Shovel some snow. Have a Keith's for breakfast. Eat peameal and poutine. Shoot some varmints.

ah Vancouver...the Capilano bridge in North Van is pretty cool - very touristy, but you have to be brave to cross it! (I did
)
If you can get out of town to the North, heading towards Squamish there's a supposedly good mine museum on the way although didn't get time to see it myself.

SMALL TOWN HOCKEY
Forget the NHL, its home town kids teams that shine a light on canadian family life.

You've also got to go to the arena wearing shorts unless it's actually snowing outside.

thing is tickets are $80 each. *gulp*
then again when is the next time we will get a night out in van without the kids? assuming we do get a job/visa/move out there etc.

If you're looking for a hotel, the Granville Island is my favorite.
Got its own microbrewery, the restaurant overlooks False Creek and you can catch a waterbus to most of the touristy type stuff.
