Ah, the old dry vs damp debate. My MIL drove me crazy when visiting last Christmas with constant exclamations of "It's not so cold! It must be because it's dry", while she walked outside dressed in clothing suitable for an assault on Everest. Unfortunately she refused to accept my challenge to experience a dry -30C dressed in what she wears for a damp +2C in the UK.

Just hypothesizing. I most likely will choose London.

Rules out Van, Cause you be hot and warm in town and go skiing all in one day. Oh well you've got to find some excuse to live there. ;)

I have a friend in Calgary who has seen snowfalls in May (although it doesn`t stay) and she had to turn on the heat in her home last month (August!)

Winters are cold!

They should put it on the licence plates here. Alberta - but it's a dry cold!

"Welcome to Alberta ... we're just a tiny bit warmer than Saskatchewan or Manitoba"

Kinda long for a license plate, but if you can sell it, you got my investment money.

We've been in Calgary 4 years now, that's three Christmases .... the first two were brown. The first year it was +14 degrees on Christmas day (much to our bemusement) and we debated having Christmas Dinner out on the deck!

Last year it was just bloody cold, and the first time the whole of Canada had a white Christmas in I forget how many years ... 40?????

According to Environment Canada there was only a trace of snow on the ground Christmas Day 2007 but 15cms on Christmas Day 2008. ;)
