Not Ontario, my kids could pass at fifteen. At least they could in Zelda's, then a famously lax bar.

No worries. Wax isn't involved. Is brazilification when you get your nuts done?

[QUOTE=G77;7105335] When I was a teenager there was always certain off-licenses that you knew would serve you under age.... Here, I still get asked for ID and I'm over 10 years over the legal age limit! /QUOTE]

Oh, for heaven's sake. I was drinking in pubs in Newcastle as a regular when I was 16, in fact the first time was when I was 13 and in school uniform.

Done me no harm. <burp>

Yes. It went badly, probably set up for metric nuts.

I remember being on holiday at 15 with mates and drinking Brown Splits. I say drinking, but I was sneakily pouring much of it away under the table (in the pub garden) as it was too strong a taste for me.

We read in the local paper about a drinking under-age case involving "Bitter Top" (as they called it in Dorset) and I switched to that. Much better.;)

Could you translate that into something a simple Geordie could comprehend?

I'm inclined to say it translates roughly into "you lot can talk a real load of crap" but I guess that may just upset some people!!

Bitter Top?
Bitter with a dash (of lemonade).
Stronger than shandy but not quite the full pint. I was just a soft southerner.

ewwww almost as bad as Lager and Black - I used to like this until i drank too much and vomited it all over the place ( so classy eh) wasnt so nice on the way back out lol - have never drank it since hahahhaha

Oh and just as a matter of info - its NOT illegal for kids of 12 and 16 to drink alcohol as was mentioned in aprevious post - Its illegal for any child under the age of 5 yrs old to drink alcohol ( unless for medicinal purposes - dont ask me about that lol) - a child of 16-17 can be bought alcohol, beer or wine in a pub by an adult if they are having a meal. It is only illegal to BUY alcohol under the age of 18. This is quite often why Police have issues with kids drinking in the streets - its NOT illegal for kids to drink alcohol, but they have certain powers about drinking in public. A child can drink alcohol at home if they wish and their parents allow. Personally I think these laws are ridiculous but hey ho - we have laws that still state " In the city of York it is legal to murder a Scotsman within the ancient city walls, but only if he is carrying a bow and arrow" lol

One time when my parents came to visit Toronto we went on a side trip to the Grand Canyon. We stopped in one horse town, Black Gulch, Dead Frog Creek, something like that. In the saloon my mother inexplicably ordered lager and lime. Baffled for a moment the bar tender grabbed a bottle of Bud and shoved a lime in it, Corona style. "Bud's a lager beer" she said.
