Good advice. I spend some time on that forum even now.

It is noticeable, however, that in all the reasons given for wanting to return to the UK, one rarely, if at all, sees anyone mentioning yob culture/crime/anti-social behaviour etc in the country to which they moved as a factor influencing their decision.

Fair point. This could mean (a) the UK is uniquely degenerate or (b) that no other country suffers from quite the same tabloid induced mass hysteria. It is equally true that fear of yob culture is not preventing folk moving back to the UK for the myriad of reasons that they are doing so.

I'll leave it open to interpretation dbd33. But suffice to say, you have scrutinised my post and unsurprisingly, you have surfaced. Does it resonate a little?

Oh, that's a relief. I thought you were talking about me.

Well, if that's the main gripe a few beer cans? I can live that :)

Y

I expect there's a lot of drunk driving as it's a drinking/smoking culture and nobody walks. However, I don't know for certain.

It made perfect sense to you and we all know it; hence your response and no one else's: Is that clarification enough for you?

Or, do you want me to bow to another intellectual put-down and say: 'Yes, very random, and much bigger words than I can handle.'

Can I just ask, why you are so spiky?

No, of course not. You are a Gaurdian reader...

And a gentle soul, with heart...

Actually, no. I see no connection between intellectual prowess and posting here. Are you saying that certain posters come here in order to get their brains adled?

This may come as a shock to you, but I first "met" dbd33 on the grauniad talk-boards in, IIRC, 1999.

Not that. It's just that I know him to be a truly wonderful soul with nothing but purity and love in his heart. He can talk to small furry animals and they eat from his hand. Noting that he is currently under flood conditions, I expect he's practicing his water walking this afternoon.

I assumed it to be sarcasm - something not often seen on these shores...

I see your point. I must have been thinking of someone else who can walk on water.

Now, now. Since the man is too humble to reveal his true nature you and I must take up the cudgel in defense of his beatification.
