Her once dark hair is dyed a non-descript beige blond shade and her clothes are "safe" and bland at times. She worries that if she goes too glam she will be seen as mutton but there is a happy medium. My M-I-L is 61 and is far from invisible. She is trendy (but not mutton) and attractive with a young outlook on life and it makes all the difference. |

I think this is an interesting thread badge. My Mum says she has become invisible, but I think she has let herself become invisible.

Sounds perfect to me. Last thing I want is people looking at me or trying to start some spurious conversation in a lift, or some idiot on a plane trying to talk to me.
So get me that invisibility cloak now! JTL |
Re: Are you invisible?
At 42 I'm invisable not because of my age or my clothing or my haircolour or cut its coz I dont post...
see? you can't see me... Its a progressive thing for a lot of women, loosing your identity first you become Mr X "Wife" then you become The kids name's mum.... then you just f a d e a w a y buggerit you can see me coz i posted, But its OK!!! coz if I shut my eyes I can't see you so you dont exist... Sorted:thumbup: |
Re: Are you invisible?
I agree with the beige comment. Emulating a mushroom is not a good look.
Also, why do older women insist on a short back and sides? There are few people who can carry off that pixie look. I think I will find it very distressing to become invisible but at the same time I'd hate to be "mutton dressed as lamb". But i'll cross that bridge when I come to it! I might start wearing red lipstick or something. |

I have a salon I go to and yes it costs, but I am not going to dye my own hair, I wont get a 'mate down the road' to cut it to save money, I get it done properly because to me it makes a big difference. |

Or maybe it's happening now and I'm just blissfully unaware? Way too self-absorbed to realise. After years of being a white face (or an ang moh kow - red haired monkey) in an asian country, I like being what's termed an "invisible expat" anyway. (* Not for much longer though :D) |
