One thing I can always count on, when I remember about this site and swing by every couple of years, is that you will always be here, spouting absolute 100% certified bollocks. Like some fetid far-right stream of consciousness straight from the collective colon of humanity.

Yes, yes, and yes.
And long overdue.
If it passes, it won't create any wrenching, immediate change, for good or ill. It will be more like the Mabo case: ground-breaking, in the sense that Mabo broke the illusion of the 'Terra Nullius' argument, and created a "seat at the table" for Aboriginal stakeholders, based on property rights.
Rather, the Voice will create a different seat at a different table, i.e. one which decides on federal social policy, especially as it applies to ATSI people.

Unless things change, this referendum is going to be a real divider. But I think that was the aim of it in the first place. 7 votes to 6 so far.

Couldn't agree more, though. Yes, yes the person Hutch is referring to is both of those things.

7 votes all now. A real divider.
The Guardian has published the results of a poll which suggests growing support for the No everywhere except Victoria.

I can't help feel the principles of the voice campaign around helping Aboriginal people would be better served by legislation, something that would likely get through parliament, rather than asking the public to put it in the constitution and make it permanent. We have just seen the WA government do a complete turn around n their Aboriginal Heritage Protection laws. Often things need changing and shouldn't be permanent.

Impressive speech from Jacinta Price. It's amazing how people don't see the Voice as the institution of racist division that it will become.

I’m not a citizen, so I am watching on. I think clarity is lacking in both camps. And whatever the outcome, I will bet my bottom dollar that there is no consensus on why we got that outcome.

Why do you think there is a lack of clarity ? Both sides seem to have specific arguments.
