The only ones that are saying that "to be attacked in the same ratio as everyone else must be racist", is the Indians. Why ?

Yep, it is also possible that, those who get attacked might simply understand that, it was not a crime but a racism attack.

What do you mean by that? :sneaky:

It seems the media over there may avoid anything to do with reporting race problems.

Hamilton is/was a working class city of steel mills and industry. I lived in Dundas, which is a town bordering on Hamilton to the west for my first 16 years, then in Burlington which borders on Hamilton to the northeast for 11 years before we migrated to Australia. It's population base (when I lived in Canada) was mainly European immigrants - Italian, Portuguese, etc. I would probably compare it to Manchester from what I know of Manchester. Tough, working class city.

Um, because BE doesn't have a large Chinese/Japanese/Lebanese/Vietnamese membership. And as has already been pointed out, these nationalities tend to not play the race card quite so quickly as the SouthAsian population. I think if you take a closer look at the real crime situation in Australia's major cities you will find there is actually a lot of crime committed against Asians. The difference is, if they are anything like they are in Canada, that the Asians tend to take care of the problem themselves.

Can't speak for Ozzie but I'm not asking anything. I was just putting my point of view over quite succinctly I thought.

Are there more attacks against Indians? I'd never picked up on that in 6 years living here. Yes, in the last week there have been a couple of attacks which have hit the headlines, but I was not aware that there was a major racial thing against Indians here.

Is Australia still safe for Indians

I have been in Australia for one year now ,but everyday i fear for my life.I wonder if the police and government are doing enough to protect us [immigragrants you came later] I think there is a general feeling by some people that we are making the counntry overpopulated. Most people do not realise that they are immigrants as well only that their arrived early.99% OF PEOPLE IN aUSTRALIA ARE IMMIGRANTS.Only the Arboriginals are not immigrants

If you go walking alone through parks at 2am in the morning in bad suburbs of melbourne where gangs hang out, like the Indian guy that got murdered did, then your not safe, no one would be.
The murder in NSW was carried out by other Inidans who he owed money and the police say the Indian guy set alight in Melbounre was not race related. maybe it was becasue of a dispute he had with other people .The murder rate in Inida is much higher then OZ.

Most of the attacks on Indians are not racist attacks, but the Indians and the Indian media want to make out every attack to be racist.

I met an Indian guy in Perth last year who is a GP. We keep in touch and although he has been there a little under a year he or his family have not received any racial abuse - he told me this!

On the other hand a white friend of mine was racially abused on most days when he lived in a very nice area of Brisbane - by white Australians.

Statistically speaking, assaults against Indians are in the same ratio as assaults as against everyone else.

An IMMIGRANT is a person who comes to live in the country and is NOT born in that country.

About 75% of the Australian population are Australian born, meaning about 25% are Immigrants.

The original Aboriginals are the same as everyone else, they also migrated here, but 40,000 years ago.

We want what you want - a nice safe place to live.

We want what you want - the Law to be enforced.

I do not want more immigrants squeezed into our cities - I find there are quite enough here already for any reasonable purpose for the forseeable future.

I AM NOT AN IMMIGRANT AND I AM NOT AN ABORIGINE AND YOUR SAYING I AM EITHER WILL NOT MAKE IT SO.

Luckily it's not your decision.
