errr yes and that is the opposite of what I said, but I take your point.

If you are referring to ABC Diamond, I would ask you to retract those comments, he is one of the most respected old-school posters on this website and provides a vast amount of information for everyone hoping to come to Australia. I have no idea whether he can afford to go back or not, slightly academic as to my knowledge he doesn't want to.

And in many ways that isn't a bad thing at all. I only hope Australia doesn't ever catch up, it would be the worse a place for it.

No retraction. There is no fool like and old fool. I honestly believe the man to be delusional and a misinformer although I do believe he is well intentioned.

Too much whinging and very little action (despite what people post I strongly suspect its more excuse than reasoning). The first to whinge are also strangely the first to criticise those growing beyound the regulation poppy.

How come the phrase godzoner when this is quite rightly for the land of the long white cloud:sneaky:

I did make a nice sweeping generalization earlier in the thread but by and large I stand by it, there will always be exceptions of course.

I must admit I may be odd but I could live happily in Australia or UK. Each has their merits and bad points - the trick is to focus on the plusses.

I'm here because work brought me here - as it did the UK from here some years ago. If I had to go back with work I would. But must admit having back and forthed a couple of times I'd prefer here - just.

Who's bizarre? ABC? Hardly. Perhaps you could have a read of the rules of this site. This one, for instance:-

Ordinary is the key.
Nothing to do with back slapping. People forget that life has to be managed anywhere. I bet Buzzy has to deal with the occasional hiccup. I would expand slightly on Buzzie that people who have the biggest type of issues -but non issues to the rest of us, are a certain type of Little Englander. Ill-equipped and downtrodden in the UK, their life doesn't always transfer that well..OR they do well. There's no middle ground, and whilst migration sees these people get some of the most benefits, they are also the most likely to fall foul of a myriad of issues...and there is no way of guessing their chances, only that they are high risk.

Then there are people who are even less impressed with their UK lives, scorned by all, and often these people have the most to gain. Good for them. They get another crack.

This is a discussion forum and ABC tends to post about things that have an appeal to posters. Whingers and whiners have always provided material for discussion. All he is doing is setting out the stall for the rest of us to climb on. I don't think he even has an opinion or self-interest other than a raised eyebrow.

I thought ABCDiamond was a women - the name reminded me of Anne Diamond (tv journalist and presenter in UK) - bit of a shock to find that not the case.
