Ladies, and the odd gentleman (although there are some very odd women on this thread ), I pronounce the next ten days pain free, food allergy free, liver disease free, days, where we can be safe in the knowledge that the rest of the world will be out to kill a few brain cells and have memories much like ours.

A month ago i had my bloods done again, and the Doctor put me up to 100mcg from 75 mcg. I felt okay on 75 mcg, but now my legs have gone back to aching (really painful), and my skin is dry again, and i just don't feel well. Am I still getting too little or am I now on too much? I'm off on Wednesday to get bloods done again.

Cheers
Tracy

It's hard to tell unless you actually have some tests done. Do you know what your fT3 and fT4 was? Or haven't they tested that?

How is every one? It has been very quit on here lately.
I go to the hospital for all my results on Monday.
When i went in two week before Xmas they would not give me the readings for my thyroid test, even though i was persistent they said to go to my doctor to find out, which i did and they asked me to ring the hospital to get them to send it all through right as they had missed halt off.
Going by what i have been told by my doctors it looks like i might have to have more tests before finding out more.
Did not manage to put any more weight on over Xmas.

Hello
I was feeling absolutely run down, my job was involving emotional stuff with children and social services and i really felt exhausted!(Luckily A gave me some hope and advice and also asked me to put on here )
I was due anther blood test and the results were:

Renal profile:
(DHH) normal, no action 141 mmol/L (136-145)
Serum sodium 4.0 mmol/L (3.5-5.4)
Serum potassium 76 mmol/L (53-97)
Serum creatinine 4.5 mmol/L (2.5-6.7)
Serum urea level

Serum TSH level 0.03 mu/L (0.40-5.00)
(DHH) - To see G.P routine

Serum free T4 level 15.1 pmol/L (9.0-19.0)
(DHH) normal, no action

So, i return to the doctor who tells me that my T3 is overactive and that i have to reduce my Levothyroxine to 125mg from 150mg and this will fix it.
I am returning on 2.2.09 to have another blood test. I told him i would be feeling awful by doing this and he typed that i was *reluctant to reduce dosage*.
When i asked about taking something to compensate T3 he said no.
After the next blood test will i see a difference in my results? I know that i will feel underactive again so what can i say to this dinosaur doctor? I have switched doctors within the same doctors and i will move elsewhere but how do i find a sympathetic NHS doctor?
Apologies for the length and thanks for reading

Reducing yr dose WILL alter the TSH blood test result...if the blood test is taken at an appropriate time. It may not make you feel any better (or any worse) though.

Was the TSH result 0.03 or <0.03 (ie undetectable)?

Good luck with everything!

Thanks for your reply. Yes, it was 0.03 TSH.
I forgot to say but I was really glad that my blood tests were due because all my face had swollen and my ankles and felt underactive too. I phoned my surgery and a locum doctor prescribed water tablets which did make me look a lot better!
Yes, it was 0.03 TSH. Does this mean what my GP said 'overactive'?

Hi

I'm new to this thread but have been read it often and tried to get all the blood tests you recommend but the lab won't do anything other than TSH even though my doctor put in a special request.

Anyway I've given up trying to get it all sorted here in UK and am hoping for better results when I get to OZ which is why I'm posting now.

I will arrive in Adelaide on 11th Feb and wondered if anyone on here could recommend a good doctor to me.

Rachel
